DIED--BURKE--Nellie Burke died at the home of her parents in Plainville January 17, 1899, aged 18 years, 8 months and 10 days. Nellie Burke was born at Plainville in this county, May 8th, 1880, and it is there that she grew to womanhood and developed a personality and the grace of young womanhood that endeared her to a large circle of friends. She was taken sick on Thursday January 12, with diptheria. The symptoms indicated a speedy recovery, and the hopeful anticipations of her friends seemed fully justified. But that appalling reaction that so often occurs in the course of this disease, and as it were, snatches the loved one from the arm of hope, came to her, and in an hour after, the weak fluttering heart had ceased to beat. She was buried the following night and as soon as the arrangements could be made. Her mother, one sister, three brothers, two half brothers and four half sisters survive her. |
