The Sudden Death of Jackson Smith

Jackson Smith died of stomach and liver trouble on Friday night about 11:30, after an illness of about three months.

Mr. Smith was born in T___, Ohio on December 22, 1843 and died on August 14th (1908).

He came to Wisconsin about thirty years ago and has lived in the Town of Bear Lake ever since.

He was married to Phebe Swetland in 1871.  Two children were born to their union, one of whom, Mrs. George Picknell of Cumberland is living (in 1908).  Besides one daughter, he leaves a wife and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the District #1 schoolhouse, Town of Bear Lake, by the Reverend C. E. Zellmer on Sunday afternoon.  The Wiesner choir did the singing.  The remains were laid to rest in the Wiesner Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was a good man, and one of Bear Lake's oldest pioneers.  He will be greatly missed by his many friends.  Herman, Albert and William Wiesner, William Wille, Peter Yost and Herman Keckhafter acted as pallbearers.
