GALLAGHER, JAMES OBITUARY

Accidental Drowning

Last Saturday, three of the men at work at the quarry on Bass Island came over to this place, and succeeded in getting petty heavily loaded with 'tanglefoot' before they started to return, in the evening. About four o'clock next morning one of them drifted ashore at the island, clinging to the boat, nearly exhausted, but two of them, named JA'S GALLAGHER and Tom Hannon, were not to be found, and had evidently found a watery grave. Their bodies have not been found yet, though search was made. They came here but a short time ago, from Cleveland, to work on the quarry, but whisky was too much for them.
