Les E. Heinemann  January 15, 1998
My name is Les Heinemann, originally from Buffalo City, Buffalo Co. I moved to Colorado in 1982. I started collecting my families ancestors in 1992. I presently have around ten thousand people in database. Not all from Buffalo Co., but quite a few.
I am trying to find a line from my grandmother Elizabeth BURMEISTER. My gggrandfather was Jacob FLUEKIGER b. Aug 1824 in Hutwyl, Canton Bern, Switzerland, d. Jan 2 1902 in Alma, Buffalo Co Wisconsin. He immigrated to Alma in 1881 along with his son Johann (John) b. 1859 in Bern. Johann married Emilia GROB Jan 9 1884 in Nelson, WI. They had three children in Buffalo Co: Edmund b. Sep 13 1884, Alfred b. Dec 28 1890 and Emma b. Apr 29 1892. No one seems to know what happened to this part of the family. Someone thought they went West.
I found in The Buffalo Co. Journal Feb 28 1895 "For Sale" my farm four miles from Alma consisting of 65 acres, 10 acres cultivated the rest weedland and meadow with good buildings and spring, is for sale at a bargain.. Then, May 16 Casper GROB is advertising Johns farm for rent. Then in the 1920 state of Washington census I find John FLICKINGER age 60 living along with his wife born in WI living on 331 Home St., Montesano City, Greys Harbor Co. Washington.
I am almost sure, because birthplaces and ages make sense that this is the family I am looking for. But that is where my information on the family stops.
