Historical Society
The Burnett County Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation and disemination of Burnett County History. Over the past few years volunteers have been busily organizing materials for their research library. This library is now able to provide research services on people, locations and activities (post office, schools, telephone, etc.) of the county.
Here is some information to help you
to use this valuable research tool:
LOCATION: The library is located at Forts Folle Avoine Historical Park at 8500 County Road U, 2 1/2 miles west from Wisconsin Highway 35 between Danbury and Webster.
HOURS: Burnett County Historical Society Research Library is open from 1 - 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays and on other days by appointment. To make an appointment, call Forts Folle Avoine at 1-715-866-8890. Library volunteers will be available to assist you in your search.
PROCEDURE: The library contains research materials that will enable you to search for people, locations and/or activities. As an example, when researching complete histories of a location (such as the history of the town of Siren), materials will be made available to you, but it will be necessary for you to review them to determine what is appropriate to your project.
REQUESTS: If you are unable to visit the Research Library, the staff will also take requests via mail to help you. To facilitate genealogy research, make requests in writing and limit requests to one family name and make no more than three requests per letter. Send as many letters as you wish.
