CHASE, Jennie M. (Conry): 21 Aug. 1869, Chippewa Co., WI.-Sat., 15 Jan. 1955, at her home, 86 yrs. (Obit, 20 Jan. 1955)

Bur: Tues., Jan. 18. D/of Benj. & Maria Conry. Mar: Oct. 3 1886, her home near Bloomer, to Andres C. Chase. 1897: they moved to the Village of Colfax on Apr. 28 where they founded the Colfax Messenger & publ. the 1st issue on 30 April. They cont. in the profession of printing for 20 yrs. until retiring in 1917. Mr. Chase d. Jan. of 1940.

Mrs. Chase was a charter mbr. as well as the 1st Secretary of the Ladies Reading Club which was organized in 1904 & became the Colfax Womans Club, Garden Club, church aids, & altho she was a mbr. of the Meth. Church she also regularly attended meetings of the Lutheran aids. Each year she served as treasurer of the annual flower show.

Funeral services were conducted on Tues. afternoon at 2:00 from the Meth. church with Rev. Obert Voll of Mound, MN. officiating & the Bremer Funeral Home in charge. Bur: Bloomer cem.

Surviving her passing are nieces, Mrs. Vera La Raut, Bakersfield, CA, Rose & Lulu Ellis of Bloomer & nephews, Ray German of Eau Claire & Charles Ellis of Bloomer. Serving as pallbearers were: Claude Wensel, Ben Rosenberg; Dr. W. R. Brooks, T. J. Conway, John Hammer & Albert Hill.

D/of James & Hannah Gay Chase: James Chase-Res. Auburn Twp., Chippewa Co., WI. in CHASE SETTLEMENT which was named in his honor. Mar: Hanna (Gay): Feb. 3 1827, Mercer Co. PA.-d. her home in Cooks Valley on June 25, 72 yrs., 4 mos., 25 days. Mar: March 26, 1843 to James Chase. Funeral conducted by Rev. H. P. Waldom at M. E. Church in Cook's Valley last Thurs. afternoon.

6 chdn., 4 of whom d. in infancy. Surviving are 2 sons, 2-Roy of Eau Claire. 2-Lee of this city.
