ELVIRA ADELIA (Chase) LEBELL: News of the death of Mrs. Joseph LeBell received here on Wed. morning, was almost unbelieveable, as she had been in her usual good health up to the time of her death. Mrs. LeBell had been visiting her dau., Mrs. H.L. Dibble at Baraboo & returned home abt. a week ago, going on through to New Auburn to visit relatives for a few days. On Tues. evening she was taken with a sinking spell & passed away at 10:30 o'clock at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Henry Lebell. Death was due to heart trouble.

Elvira Adelia Chase, D/of James & Hanna Gay Chase, was born in the town of Roxbury, Dane Co. on Sept. 3, 1854. She came with her parents to Chippewa Co. in 1866, & the fam. settled in what is now Auburn Twp. in CHASE SETTLEMENT, the settlement having been {named in honor of} her father. Here she was mar: in 1867 to Joseph LeBell. Foll. their marriage they lived for awhile in Chase Settlement, then for awhile in Cook's Valley, & then moved into the village, some 25 yrs. ago, where they have since resided. Mr. LeBell died last June.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. H. L. Dibble of Baraboo, and three sons, Austin LeBell of Hammond, Ind., James LeBell of Wheeler and Joseph C. of Portland, ND. Besides these she is survived by 4 bros. & 2 sisters as foll: J. W. Chase of Wilsonville, OR., Edward E. Chase of Superior, WI., Chas. M. Chase of Clarksville, Ark., A.C. Chase of Cofax, WI. & the Mesdames. Frank German & C. W. Bitney of Bloomer, and a host of other relatives & friends & neighbors. Mrs. LeBell was the most beloved lady in her home community. She was a loyal mbr. of the local U. B. church, in which org. she took loving pride and in its councils her advice was always welcome. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph LeBell are both buried at the Auburn Cem. (Chase Settlement).
