OBITUARY

DELVINA MARSH (1901 - 1995)

Delvina Marsh, 94, of St. Paul, MN and formerly from the Boyd area, passed away on May 30, 1995 at St. Mary's Home in St. Paul.

Delvina was born on January 27, 1901 to Albert and Agnes (Beaudin) Mercier. She grew up in the Boyd area and attended the area schools. She began her teaching career in 1918, teaching in the Colburn, Pike Lake and Boyd area. She then taught at Lomon School at International Falls, MN, near the Canadian border.

On November 26, 1942 Delvina married Willis Marsh at the St. Paul Cathedral, St. Paul, MN. Willis died on July 20, 1969.

Delvina then went to St. Paul, MN where she was a principal at Edgecumbe, Riverside, Davis and Adams Schools. She retired in 1969 after nearly a half century of working in the education field.

Surviving Delvina are a brother Clement (Gladys) of St. Paul, MN, one sister, Edna Long of Stanley, two sister-in-laws, Edna (Mrs. William Mercier) of Boyd, Nedra Darringer (formerly Mrs. Joseph Mercier) of Chippewa Falls, nieces and nephews.

Delvina was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willis, a son, Willis Jr., five brothers, Albert, Henry, Joseph, William and Jerome Mercier, and two sisters, Irene (Sr. Roselda) and Exilda.

Services were held on June 2 at St. Joseph's Catholic Chruch in Boyd with Father Arthur Redmond officiating. Pallbearers were Laverne Seidling, Harvey Phelps, Bill, Don, Jim and John Mercier. Interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boyd. A memorial mass was held at St. Mary's Home, in St. Paul, MN on June 7.

Plombon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
