I found this handwritten note in an old book from the early 1900’s.There is no flock however watched and tended, but one dead lamb is there. The snows of winter now passing away, reveal many little mounds in our cemeteries which contain the forms of dear children and although it may be the dearest spot on earth, this “God’s acre”, where Christ has planted the choice seed of our affections, yet it is a sad place and I think few mothers visit there without asking their own hearts, oh, so vainly this question. “Why is it?”
