From the Pittsville Record [Pittsville, Wood County, Wisconsin], Thursday October 16, 2003, Page 3 (not the complete obit due to copyright restrictions) LaVerne Louise Ballard, 82, of Vesper, died Friday, October 10th in Vesper. LaVerne was born Feb. 23, 1921 in Granton to August and Eleva (Huber) Ley. She was married to Emil Ballard in 1947, in Maywood, Illinois. The couple moved to Vesper in 1999, where Emil died on September 14, 1999. Survivors include one child, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and one brother. In addition to her husband, LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Marlyn, in 1937. Funeral services were held at First Presbyterian church in Arpin on October 13, and burial was in the Arpin cemetery. Buchanan Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
