From the Loyal Tribune [Loyal, Clark County, Wisconsin], March 09, 1911

Mr. J. C. Moody passed away Sunday, Feb. 19th, at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 12 days. Mr. Moody was born in Perry County, Ohio, Nov. 7, 1837, and came to Viroqua about 1850. He is known as one of the pioneers of Clark County, where he has lived and held several offices of trust. He was an honest and upright citizen and had a large circle fo acquaintances who met at the home Thursday afternoon to pay their last respects to their departed friend. Mr. Moody enlisted in the Civil War in September, 1861, and was in 18 battles, wounded and taken prisoner at Lynchburg. He was a member of the Iron Brigade, 6th Wisconsin Co. I, and was honorably discharged in June, 1865. [Greenwood News Column]
