MYRON T. BAILEY

MYRON T. BAILEY was born in Ticonderoga, N.Y., Sept. 21, 1831; came to the town of Sun Prairie, Dane Co., in September 1846 (with his father, who died there July 31, 1872, a native of Manchester, Vt.); remained there until about 1851, then came to Madison and clerked in post office, and studied law about a year; afterward he went to Appleton, spent one year in school in Lawrence University Preparatory Department; then was at Sun Prairie one year; in 1856, he was elected Clerk of the Court of Dane Co., and has lived in Madison ever since; was Assistant Treasury Agent several years; member of Council four years; for about two years before the close of the war he was in Arkansas and Missouri, in Commissary Department. Was married at Hartland, Waukesha Co., Dec. 13, 1855, to Marian E. WIGHTMAN; she was born in Canandaigua, N.Y.; they have had one son, who died in infancy. Mr. BAILEY is now serving his fourth term as Justice of the Peace; is a member of the Temple of Honor; Madison Relief Association and Madison Yacht Club; was the first Commodore of the Yacht Club, and held the position three years.
