GEORGE BUNKER

GEORGE BUNKER, lumberman; was born in De Ruyter, Madison Co., N.Y., April 3, 1823. When a small boy, his parents moved to Truxton, Cortland Co., N.Y.; is the son of Gorham BUNKER, who settled in East Troy, Walworth Co., Wis., in 1837; his family joined him in 1838, where the subject of this sketch lived about nineteen years, following the occupation of a farmer; then going to Whitewater, where he was in the lumber business from 1857 to 1863, when he came to Madison and engaged in the lumber business with William VROMAN, under the firm name of BUNKER & VROMAN, which still continues. Was married in Rochester, Racine Co., Wis., in October 1849, to Fannie M. HULBERT; she was born in Oneida Co., N.Y.; they have three children - Charles H. and Mary E., born in East Troy, and Lora E., born in Whitewater. Mr. BUNKER has been a member of the Common Council.
