Green Lake County Wisconsin USGenWeb |
Green Lake County, in central Wisconsin is one of the smallest counties in the state. It was formed in 1856 from Marquette County and contains Wisconsin's deepest lake, Green Lake. The county seat is the city of Green Lake. The largest city in Green Lake County is Berlin. Other cities and villages include Kingston, Markesan, Marquette, and Princeton. Surrounding counties include Columbia, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Marquette, Waushara, and Winnebago.
Green Lake County, like other Wisconsin counties, uses the term "towns" to refer to what are called townships in other states. These are NOT the same as villages or cities, whether incorporated or not. Green Lake County towns are listed below. Click on a town name to see a brief history of the town circa 1890. |
