Anna Elizabeth Langholff
Anna E Bahr was born in Sanoczin Posen, Prussia on the twenty sixth day of
Decembert, 1829
In her infancy she was christened and after receiving her religous training
was confirmed in the Luthern faith May 25, 1853.
In the year 1835 she became the wife of Ferdinand Langholff. Mr and Mrs
Langholff came to America in 1851, settling in Fort Atkinson, where she has
resided continuously since.
When St Paul's Luthern church was founded her husband was one of the
original members and was the first trustee on the church organization. Until
age prevented she took an active part in church work, laboring unceasingly
for its benefit.
She possessed a true cristion character and was ever ready to sacrafice
herself for the good of others.
In an early day their home was a haven of refuge for their countryment who
reached America without funds or friends.
Mr Langholff passed to the other shore, May 8, 1909. She had enjoyed fairly
good health for a woman of her age up to the past year, when she rapidly
failed.
Death relieved her suffering, Saturday afternoon, Sept 23, at four o'clock,
at the ripe old age of eighty-one years, eight months and seven days.
She leaves seven children, fourteen grandchildren, and a host of other
relatives and friends. Four children preceeded the mother in death. Those
surviving are: Julius Langholff and Mrs Sarah Foljahn of this city, Mrs
Matilda Maas and Mrs Bertha Gallitz of Chicago, Herman Langholff, Mrs Clara
Savall, and Mrs Amelia Wirig, all of this city.
The funeral services took place Tuesday, Sept 26, at 1:30 at the home and
after at St Paul's Luthern Church, conducted by REv. A. F. Nicolans
She was laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery
