Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Lippert, a pioneer resident of the Timber Lake vicinity, who passed away at the home of her son, Lorenz Lippert, at Fort Yates, North Dakota on Saturday, Feb. 6, was held at the English Lutheran church at Madison, Wisconsin on Thursday of last week, Rev. C.E. Munson officiating.

Barbara Margaret Walthers was born at Jefferson, Wisconsin on December 2, 1859 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Walthers. In 1883 she was united in marriage to George Lippert, they making their home at Neillsville, Wisconsin until 1911, when the family moved to the Timber Lake vicinity to make their home. Following the death of her husband in 1920, Mrs. Lippert continued to maintain her residence in Timber Lake until November, 1929, when she went to Los Angeles, California to spend some time with her daughter, Mrs. Elmer Babcock. Since returning from California last summer, she divided her time visiting at the homes of her children in the middle west and last fall went to Fort Yates, ND to spend the winter with her son, Lorenz Lippert.

She is survived by the children: George Lippert, Timber Lake; Mrs. George Trachte and Miss Clara Lippert of Madison, WI; Bertha Ewell of Billings, Montana; Grover H. Lippert and Walter C. Lippert of Madison, Wis.; Leo H. Lippert of Sioux Falls, SD; Mrs. Walter Schlonga, Timber Lake; Mrs. Ed. Pohlman of Mt. Prospect, IL; Lorenz Lippert of Fort Yates, ND; and Mrs. Elmer Babcock of Los Angeles, Cal.; two brothers, Lorenz Walthers of Boaz, Wis.; and two sisters, Mrs. Chas. Dieter and Mrs. Henry Prop of Boaz, Wis.; and also 21 grandchildren and one great grand child.

Mrs. Lippert was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran church of Timber Lake and the Lutheran Ladies Aid. She was a kind and loving mother whose life was devoted to the welfare of her family. Her hospitality was known far and wide and she was always ready and willing to be of assistance to others in time of need. She possessed a kindly disposition, which won for her many close friendships wherever she lived. Her passing is keenly felt by all who knew her.

The pall bearers were George Lippert, Walter Lippert, Grover Lippert, Leo Lippers, Clarence Lippert and Charles Packard. Interment was made in a cemetery at Madison, beside her husband. -- Timber Lake Topic, Timber Lake, S. D.
