Frederick A Bente
Sullivan - Frederick A Bente, 68, Rt 1, Sullivan, veteran Jefferson County
board member, who would have sought re-election as chairman of the town of
Sullivan in Tuesday's election died suddenly at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the
Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital.
A long time farmer in the Rome area, Mr Bente had been a member of the
town board of Sullivan since 1938 ad had been the town chairman since 1944.
he was chairman of the Jefferson county agriculteral committee and had
served on the County Fair committee for many years. He was a member of the
St Luke's Lutheran Church, Rome, and of ist Brotherhood.
Mr Bente was born Jan 15, 1897, in the town of Sullivan, the son of Henry
and Lezetta Bente. He was married Aug 24, 1960, to Mrs Edna Wagie.
He is survived by his wife; one brother, Victor, Jefferson; two sons,
Donald Wagie, Jefferson, and Dale Wagie, at home; two daughers, Mrs Wayne
Hoof, Jefferson, and Mrs Ellowin Santos, Madison; one nephew, Victor Bente,
Jr, Jefferson; and two nieces, Mrs Richard Jaeckel, Jefferson, and Mrs
Robert Wellborn, Watseka, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St Luke's Church,
Rome, the Rev. Herbert Meyer officiating. Burial will be in St Luke's
Cemetery. Friends may call after 4:30 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home,
Palmyra
