Johan Gottlieb Andre
One of the oldest residents of our county; John Gottlieb Andre, closed his
eyes in death Saturday, May 1, 1909, at the ripe old age of 93 years, after
waiting patiently for years to be relieved from all eartly sufferings.
Deceased was born in the province of Posen, Prussia, where he was married to
Miss Caroline Langholff, who preceeded him in death in November 1908. Four
sons and two daughters were born to them, of whom one son and one daughter
have died. In 1849 they came to this country and settled on a farm in the
town of Hebron. Later they resided in Fort Atkinson and for a few years also
at Golden Lake. Six years ago they were compelled to seek shelter at the
county house as sickness and the infirmities of old age made it impossible
for them to care for themselves.
Three sons, one daughter and other relatives survive. The funeral services
were held last Wednesday and the reamins interred in the Evergreen Cemetery
at Fort Atkinson. May he after life's hard and bitter struggle rest in
peace.
