Source: Montello Express Oct 12, 1923 Samantha Ann Hilyer was born January 15, 1828, at Berne, Albany County, N.Y., and died at 8 a.m., Monday, October 8, 1923, having attained the age of ninety-five years, eight months and twenty-three days. She was married to George E. Robinson, on November 9, 1854. Six children were born to this union, two of whom preceded her in death. Her husband also passed away October 27, 1871. On May 7, 1891, she was married to James Kelly, who died April 6, 1908. Since 1854 she has been a resident of Marquette County, having lived most of the time in Montello. Until old age made her practically helpless, she was active and energetic, and affectionate mother, a true and kind neighbor, an earnest and consistent Christian, and a member of the Montello Methodist Episcopal church. She will be lovingly remembered by all who were acquainted with her and especially by her immediate family. She leaves to mourn her death four children, and twenty-one grand children, and thirteen great-grand children, and many other relatives and friends. All surviving children were present at the funeral service. They are, Mrs. Carrie E. Estee, of Hecla, S.D.; Mrs. Linda Castle, of Marshall, Minn.; George S. Robinson, of Pembine, Wis., and Mrs. Ida Hersey, of Montello, Wis. The funeral service was held from the late home on Thursday afternoon, with Rev. Godfrey Tietze officiating, and interment was made in the village cemetery.
