Pauline SchmaltzSource: Rhinelander Daily News, November 14, 1974Mrs. Pauline Schmaltz, 78, of 411 W. Phillip St., died at 3:45 a.m. today in St. Mary’s Hospital after an extended illness. She was born April 12, 1896 in Waldemier, Russia, and came to the United States in 1910. She moved directly to Rhinelander and married Alexander Schmaltz here August 10, 1916. Mrs. Schmaltz is survived by four daughters, Mrs. M.J. (Erna) Huber of Florissant, MO, Mrs. K.J. (Dorothy) Kettner of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Mrs. Beck (Elsie) Bloomquist and Mrs. John (Natalie) Hintz of Rhinelander; two sons, Rudolph, Los Angeles, CA, and Alfred of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Amelia Janke of Rhinelander; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband died in August 1946. Her parents, one daughter and one brother also are deceased. Mrs. Schmaltz was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church and a past member of its Ladies Aid. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Zion Church, with the Rev. David E. Kock officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Home Cemetery. Friends may call at the Carlson Funeral Home Friday after 3 p.m. and evening and at the church Saturday until time of service. submitted by Rick Thomas |
