John STEVENS, Sr. of Neenah was a business caller in the city Monday.

Paul HALLOCK returned Monday from a two weeks visit with his parents, Mr. and Mr. E. G. HALLOCK, at Tulsa, Indian Territory.

Kewaunee Enterprise: Miss Francis STEINBRECHER of Kaukauna was here this week. She came to attend the funeral services of her late employer. John WATTAWA.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward HOGAN spent Sunday with Mr. HOGAN's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Matthew HOGAN at Appleton.

Herbert SAECKER spent Saturday and Sunday with friends at Waupaca.

Gus. J. KINKEL of Marion, formerly a resident here, called on old friends in Kaukauna Monday.

J. P. DOUSMAN of Depere was in the city Tuesday on business. He sold a car load of flour to Kaukauna dealers and bakers which was delivered Wednesday.

Manager Wm. HOYT of the Union Bag and Paper company returned Wednesday from a
trip in the woods of Oconto county about forty miles west of Marinette.

A. C. SIMPSON of Manitowoc, formerly a resident here, called on old friends in the city Tuesday.

Miss Marie SCHOCK, milliner with O. H. RUNTE, departed for her home at Milwaukee the first of the week, having closed her season's engagement.

Alderman Fred HOEHNE left for Milwaukee Thursday to be absent two days on a business trip.

Miss Jennie BLAU teacher in the second grade Park school, has he "visiting day" today and is spending it in the Appleton and Neenah schools.

J. T. QUINLIN, an official and special agent of the Wisconsin Telephone Company of Milwaukee is visiting his brother-in-law, D. E. POWERS, manager of the Kaukauna branch.

Miss Ada PLANK departed Thursday for Monaco and Rhinelander where she will visit relatives.

Vice president L. C. LOCKLIN of the Green Bay Paper and Fiber company of Green Bay was in the city Thursday on business with Peter REUTER, president of that company.

Miss Marie FECHTER came home Monday evening from St. Catherine's Academy, Racine, having been compelled to give up her studies for the present on account of illness.

Mrs. Joseph McCARTY and children went to Milwaukee the first of the week to visit relatives.

Miss Dora NEWHOUSE of Freedom is spending the week with Kaukauna relatives. Miss Nellie CURTIN of Dundas spent Sunday with Mrs. Frank BERENS.

Miss Maude KOCH of Oconto spent Sunday in the family of Albert PLANK.

Miss Earla SCHULER of Brillion spent from Saturday to Monday with relatives here.

Mr. and Mrs. Robt. KOCH of Oconto spent Thursday with relatives.

Dr. H. B. TANNER transacted business in Milwaukee Wednesday.

Mrs. Jos. RUTTERER departed today for Chicago for a week's sojourn. Before returning she will also stop for a visit with friends at Milwaukee and Fond du Lac.

Miss Anna THORE of Philadelphia is a guest this week with Mrs. A. CARLSON.

Mrs. A. KERRIGAN, who has been seriously ill for several weeks, is somewhat improved.

Mrs. T. DeLANTY of Hilbert is the guest of her cousins, the Misses RUNTE this week.

Charles POSSON spent Saturday and Sunday in Chicago visiting his two brothers, Edward POSSON, Assistant Superintendent of Motive Power and Machinery for the Sate Fee system, and Giles POSSON, foreman at the machine shops of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway company.

Mrs. S. T. MURCHIE departed for Chicago Wednesday. She will visit there a few days and then spend a week with her daughter, Mrs. D. O. KERFOOT at Batavia, Ill.

Henry JENKINS who has been in the city visiting his grandmother, Mrs. J. CUFF, returned to his home in New York this week.

Mrs. Amanda NORLAND of Rochester, N. Y. who was here visiting her sister Mrs. Carl SWENSON, returned Wednesday to her home, and took back with her, her daughter Miss Elsie, who has spent several months with her aunt.

Joseph McCARTY, trustee on the County Insane Asylum board, left for Milwaukee
Tuesday to attend the annual meeting of the county superintendents and trustees held there Tuesday and Wednesday. Mrs. McCARTY accompanied him and both will be the guests of her sisters, Mrs. Wm. BOWLES and Mrs. Robert SCHOLL for a week or ten days.

Albert FREDERICK of Medford spent Sunday with his cousin, Mel BURKART, They
had not seen each other for a period of twenty years.

Miss Elida PADGETT, who spent the past two months with her aunt, Mrs. C. F. LOOPE, returned Thursday morning to her home at Edwards, N. Y.

Mrs. George MILLER and Mrs. Wolf MILLER of Appleton spent Tuesday afternoon
with Mrs. C. BAUER.

Fred HASS, the First ward grocer, was down to Wrightstown Wednesday on business.

Mrs. Julius KONRAD and daughter of Minneapolis were called here this week by the serious illness of her aunt, Mrs. Christina JACOBSON, and are the guests of Mrs. Wilhemina KONRAD.

The ice skating season is now on. This morning Ed FOX skated to Kimberly and reported the ice good in most places along the shore. Now and then rough spots were encountered, but on the whole the skating is excellent. He states it is dangerous to venture too close to the middle of the river, as it is open in places. FOX skates more during a season than any man in the city. Last year he covered 400 miles, going down river as far as Depere and up as far as Clifton on his numerous solitary expeditions.

After running nearly twenty-four hours the water was turned off at the skating ring in the new George C. JONES park at noon today and will be allowed to freeze tonight ready for the skaters tomorrow and Saturday. There are a few small leaks in the dam but a man was sent down to plug them this morning and it is expected by tomorrow afternoon the ice will be safe for skating over a space 125 by 175 feet.

The recent automobile damage case, which grew out of the death of Miss Anna STEFFAN, is to be appealed to the supreme court. Papers in the case were made out yesterday, but may not be forwarded in time to get on the January calendar.

Miss Agnes KAAP of Green Bay spent Sunday with Kaukauna friends.

Henry CLIFFORD of Milwaukee visited with Chris. DREGER Saturday to Tuesday.

Mrs. C. A. KUDER returned Saturday from a three weeks visit in Milwaukee

Frank OSTERMEIER and wife returned Friday from a visit with friends in Milwaukee.

Katherine CONLON of Appleton spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard CONLON.

Mrs. Matt WEYENBERG of Appleton was the guest Saturday of her mother, Mrs. Andrew BROWER.

Miss Mollie MARTENS was a visitor Tuesday at the home of her brother, William F. MARTENS of Green Bay

Miss Louise SHERBOTT of Merrill who was here the guest of her sister, Mrs. L. BRANDT, departed for her home Saturday.

Kaukauna butchers have been paying the farmers $10.00 per hundred for dressed pork this week, the highest market price for years.

Machinist George WEBSTER resigned his position at the Northwestern shops last weekend and intends to locate in the west where he has gone to seek a position.

John D. LAWE reports a good attendance at the Princess rink at Neenah, which place of amusement he has leased this winter to operate in connection with the Kaukauna rink.

City Clerk L.C. WOLF will complete the tax toll this week and the same will be turned over to City Treasurer Nic HAUPT, who will start to receive taxes on Monday, December 27.

William P. BARD of Antigo, was in Kaukauna during the past week gathering railroad news matter for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad Bulletin.

Miss Margaret McCARTY departed for Milwaukee Monday on a visit.

Mrs. J. W. MURPHY left Thursday for a few days a visit in Milwaukee.

Hugo CARLSON of Milwaukee spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Charles THOR.

French FOURNIER of Duck Creek spent Wednesday with friends in Kaukauna.

Willis KNICKERBOCKER leaves Saturday for a few days visit with friends at Waupaca.

Mrs. James LAMBIE spent two or three days at the home of Hugh LAMBIE this week.

Mrs. Nina JOHNSON and her son, M. H. JOHNSON go to Milwaukee tomorrow.

Mrs. James GARVEY of Freedom was a guest Wednesday with Mrs. Richard CONLON.

Misses Anna MITCHELL and Mattie KNICKERBOCKER called on friends at Appleton Saturday.
