CHARLES D. ELLIOTT, CO. 'E', 6TH WISCONSIN INFANTRY. SIGNED on Reverse, in Ink: "C.D. ELLIOTT, Appleton, Wisconsin". Showing Elliott in waist-up view in early Wisconsin uniform. Elliott enlisted on 6/28/1861 as a Private. On 6/28/61 he mustered into 'E' Company, Wisconsin 6th Infantry. He was transferred out on 7/1/1863, and entered into the Veteran Reserve Corps. The 6th WISCONSIN was organized at Madison, Wis. July 16th, 1861, to serve 3 years. Some of the battles of this hard-fought regiment of the Iron Brigade were: Bull Run, South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, GETTYSBURG, Spottsylvania, Petersburg and others.
