A brief history of the WIGenWeb Project
In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database Project. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index. In June 1996 this project went nation-wide and became know as the 'USGenWeb Project'

The WIGenWeb Project was started by Pat Cotter in July 1996. Bill Caudle then became the State Coordinator for four months. Allison Stanhope assumed the role in December 1996. In March 1997, J. Ben Tharaldson took over for several months. Robin Helman was State Coordinator until June 1998. Vicky Wilson served as our State Coordinator from June 1998 until September 1999.  Our current State Coordinator is Tina Vickery while MAK is our Assistant State Coordinator.  If you would like information on becoming a county cordinator please contact Tina.
