We the Chief, Headmen,
head of families and individual without families of the Pillager Band of
Chippewas, acknowledge the receipt from John S. Watrous, Sub-Agent of the
Pillager, Lake Superior and Mississippi Bands, for the following articles
to wit: fifty, three-point Mackinac blankets; three hundred, two and a
half-point Mackinac blankets; three hundred and forty yards of gray dish
cloth; four hundred and fifty yards of white dish scarlet cloth; eighteen
hundred yards of strong points, assorted colors; one hundred and fifty
pounds of gray gilling twine; seventy five pounds of turtle twine; Fifty-six
inches sturgeon twine; twenty five pounds linen thread; two hundred combs;
five thousand assorted needles; one hundred and fifty medal looking glasses;
ten pounds of vermilion; four hundred and twenty heavy tin kettles; five
hundred and thirty pounds of tobacco and eighty four shub laid hors (which
said hors are in lieu of five barrels of salt specified in our treaty);
the said enumerated articles being in full our annuities under the fourth
article of the Treaty of the twenty first day of August, in the year one
thousand eight hundred and forty seven.
