Many thanks to Ann Erdmann Hayworth from Mobile, Alabama for sharing her gedcom with the Shawano GenWeb Project.    Augusta has done extensive work on her families ERDMANN (paternal) and KOHN (maternal) and the .ged she sent in from her computer program has NUMEROUS other families included.  Since we like to err on the side of keeping people's info private, I've listed 4 GENERATION DESCENDANCY CHARTS only... the last generation listed would already be listed in the 1930 census in most cases.

Augusta sent a WEALTH of information -- I thought this over and came up with a format that would allow for an organized presentation but would be quick loading in format.   The process is simple -- I've included the PEDIGREE CHART of Walter ERDMANN Sr.   Below the chart is a table where there are links to the FAMILY GROUP RECORDS of his parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.  Just click on the FGR you wish to view and it will open in a PDF format.   The advantage to PDF format is that you can easily PRINT or SEARCH a document.  If you do not have PDF capabilities or not sure how to use it, please email me and we'll get the information to you another way.  The 4 GENERATION DESCENDANCY CHARTS contain the same information but are in a WORD DOCUMENT.

Since this is our first "prototype" of this format, please email me if you have problems using it OR if you love it as much as I do.  If this format works, we'll be doing more pages like it in the future -- thanks, Ann for allowing us to present your extensive research for you!

A little bit about the ERDMANN - KOHN families... these families immigrated in the mid-late 1800's to Wisconsin from Germany, some from the Pommern area.  They settled in the Pella / Germania / Wittenberg areas and eventually the 3rd generation, their grandchildren Franz ERDMANN & his wife Augusta (nee KOHN), removed to Alabama.  "Franz Friederick and Augusta Louise came to Mobile, Alabama from Wittenberg, Wisconsin. approximately 1907 with 5 other families: Teals, Neitzke, Kinsler, Grallap and Bruce.

Eventually the 5 families went back to Wisconsin leaving the Erdmanns in Mobile. Mr. Gralapp also stayed and continued with his sawmill.
(Adjacent photo is of the Gralapp Sawmill in Chunchula, Alabama circa 1908)

Franz had a blacksmith shop at the Loop in Mobile for about 10 years. He was also a good carpenter. They originally came to Mobile to farm but did not know how in this climate. Franz appears on the Mobile City Directory as: Erdmann, Frank F., Mach A Buerger, h Government Rd.

After establishing themselves in Mobile this family went back to Wisconsin one time only in 1936. A write up in the Shawano Leader Newspaper is titled "Erdmann Family Hold Reunion". It was held at the County Park at Shawano, Wisconsin. "Dinner and supper was served and a social time was enjoyed".  Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Erdmann, Ella, Esther, Bennie and Clarence all of Mobile, Ala.; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Erdmann, Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Erdmann, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Erdmann and Bobby Erdmann of Pella, Mr. and Mrs. William Erdmann, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Erdmann, Clarence Erdmann of Shawano, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Erdmann of Shawano, Mr. and Mrs. Friederick Erdmann of Waukesha, Herbert Erdmann of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. R.
