Rick Raasch sent
this GREAT school picture in -- just click on it to see the LARGER
ORIGINAL scan... and as you can see, we know very little about who
the children are. It's a school picture from Ainsworth School,
just north of Shawano on Hwy 47/55 (see map on the bottom of the
page). It appears to be a mixed class of several grades -- we
believe it was a 1 room school-house so the picture might very well
be Grades 1 -8. If you recognize any of the young faces, just
email me and we'll update
the page. "My
dad, Andre Raasch (#14), is the
small black haired kid in the white sweatshirt or jacket sitting
right in front of the teacher. My dad was in first grade when
this picture was taken so I am going to guess the year was about
1945.
Rick Raasch"
Rick, thanks again for the great
addition! And thanks to your Dad for saving his grade school
picture for all these decades!!
*** I'm
guesstimating here, but the children should have been born between
1930 - 1940's... This kind of reminded me of my grade school
classrooms -- we didn't have all the grades in one room, but we did
have 2 grades... and check out the old world globe hanging from the
ceiling by the teacher, the old chalkboards, Geo. Washington on the
wall by the door, the winter scenes on the bulletin boards... very
cool picture! You can almost hear the wooden floor creak...

And, if you have any school
class or confirmation photos, identified or not, we'd love to post
them to the site for all to enjoy. Just click on the photo
below for the LARGE original picture... very detailed -- I left it
as large as possible.
