LAGS is a group of local genealogists who have varying interests and degrees of experience in researching their family histories. The society meets once a month for a brief business meeting, and educational program and to help members with their research. Meetings are held at the Minocqua Library on the 2nd Tuesday of every month except for the months of July when a picnic is held at an area park and December when there is a Christmas Party at a local supper club. The starting time for all the regular meetings is 2:00 PM. Guests are always welcome.

Membership dues are $15.00 for individuals, families, or organizations, and include a monthly newsletter, which is an email newsletter. The membership year extends from April 1 through March 31.

The club has published "The Lakeland Area Cemetery Tombstone Inventory"; "Birth, Marriage & Death Indexes for The Times & Minocqua Times 1891-1926; and the "Birth, Marriage, Death and Miscellaneous Indexes for the Lakeland Times 1927-1949". These books are 'out of print'. For lookups contact the society by email. Currently the club is working on indexing the next decade of the newspaper.
