Fire of Unknown Origin Razes Tavern and Store Causing $6000 Damage

A fire of unknown origin Tuesday evening completely demolished the store and tavern building which is part of Tischendorf's Trailor Camp located on Fence Lake near Lac du Flambeau. The damage was estimated at approximately $6000.

During the supper hour members of the Tischendorf family heard a cracking of timbers and discovered the blaze in the attic. The Minocqua Fire Department arrivec at the scene fifteen minutes after being notiied but the place was then already fully ablae. Delay was further occasioned due to the fact that it was difficult to obtain water from the creek.

Mr. Tischendorf had only that morning stocked his shelves with a complete line of groceries and liquors. Through efforts of the fire department adjoining cottages and the garage was saved.

Fireman who fought the blaze were Chief Jos. Crowe, Frank Birkholz, Eugene Kline, John Kline, Leslie Rusch, and Dr. G.W.Haskell.
