Waupaca County Asylum - Weyauwega, WI

Physician’s Report

To the Honorable Board of Trustees of Waupaca County Insane Asylum for the Chronic Insane:

Gentlemen:

I herewith present my report of the medical department of the Waupaca County Asylum for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1930.

The general health of the patients during the last twelve months has been somewhat above the average.  There have been no epidemics and no cases of an unusual character.   Respiratory and digestive disturbances have formed a major part of the complaints.  As a rule the patients have responded well to treatment.

From the nervous and mental side, they have been treated largely with hygienic measures.  Open air, sunlight, occupational therapy, and cheerful surroundings.

The mortality list  is as follows:

Surgery has been very light.  A few fractures, caused by falls, cuts, bruises, abscesses, etc.  The sanitary condition of the building and premises has been kept up to its usual high standard and I have no suggestions to make along this line.

The Superintendent and Matron have at all times given individual and personal attention to the patients and besides looking after their general welfare have thought of many little attentions to cheer them and brighten the lives of those who must, not by choice, but by necessity, make this their home.

In closing I wish to thank your Honorable Board, the Superintendent and Matron for the co-operation which I have always received in the discharge of my duties.

Respectfully submitted,
E. H. JONES
