Transcribed by Paula Vaughan October 2010 TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF TRUSTEES: I submit herewith my report of the medical department of the Waupaca County Insane Asylum for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1931. Beside looking after the physical and mental ills of the patients, it is a part of my duty to look after the hygiene and general sanitation of the premises; to advise as to kind and quality of food; kind and amount of exercise, infact, everything having to do with the personal welfare from the physicians standpoint. Much of this, however. has been performed in a perfunctory manner only owing to the most excellent service of Superintendent and Matron and their well trained corps of assistants. The sanitary condition of the buildings and premises has been well looked after and most scrupulous cleanliness has been observed at all times. Patients are always comfortably clothed and beds are comfortable and well kept. Food has been substantial, well prepared and ample in amount but regulated according to the individual needs of the patient. There have been no epidemics and only the routine complaints common to inmates of institutions of this character. Surgery has been light consisting of one case of fractured leg caused by an automobile accident. The mortality list is small, comprising but five deaths during the year as follows:
I again wish to thank your
Honorable Board, Superintendent and Matron for the co-operation I have
always received in the discharge of my duties. __________________________ Return to asylum page Return to Homepage Questions, suggestions or additions please email.
