Transcribed by Paula Vaughan October 2010 Gentlemen: I herewith present my report of the medical department of Waupaca County Asylum for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1934. The general health of the patients during the year has been a fair average. We have had no epidemics. No surgery except of a very minor character. No Cases of an unusual character. Aside from mental conditions which are always present, the chief complaints have been digestive and respiratory. As a rule the patients have responded well to treatments. From the nervous and mental side they have been treated largely with hygienic measures. Open air, sunlight, cheerful surroundings, and occupational therapy. The mortality list is as follows:
The sanitary condition of the buildings and premises has been well looked after and most scrupulous cleanliness has been observed at all times. Food has been ample and substantial with attention to the individual needs of the patients. Patients are always comfortably clothed and beds are well kept and comfortable. The Superintendent and Matron have given personal and individual attention to the patients. Beside supplying actual necessities they have done much to comfort and cheer the patients and to make the asylum as homelike as possible. In closing I wish to thank your honorable board, superintendent and matron for the co-operation which I have always received in the discharge of my duties. Respectfully Submitted, __________________________ Return to asylum page Return to Homepage Questions, suggestions or additions please email.
