Waupaca County Asylum - Weyauwega, WI Physician’s Report – Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 1937 To the Honorable Board of Trustees of the Waupaca County Asylum for the Chronic Insane Gentlemen: We herewith present the report of the Medical Department and the mortality list for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1937.
The
general health of the patients has been above the average when compared in
the average in the general practice of medicine. There has been no
epidemic of contagious diseases. Mild respiratory and digestive
disturbances are the basis of the major portion of complaints. Surgery
has occupied a very minor part of the work, consisting mostly of
lacerations which are common among patients of this classification. The
mortality list show the terminal causes of death which most instances are
the result of degenerative nature. From the nervous and mental aspect,
the treatment has been largely hygienic, occupational therapy, cheerful
surroundings, fresh air and sun light.
The Superintendent and Matron have given individual and personal attention to the patients at all times. Heating, ventilation, and sanitation have been well regulated. Exercise, vocations, and entertainment have been supplied in accordance to the needs of the patients. These and many other details necessary for the well being of the patients have been very well supervised by the Superintendent and Matron. We wish to thank the Honorable Board of Trustees, the Superintendent, and Matron and the Attendants for the cooperation extended to us in the performance of our duties at the institution.
