Physician’s Report – Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 1937

To the Honorable Board of Trustees of the Waupaca County Asylum for the Chronic Insane

 Gentlemen:

We herewith present the report of the Medical Department and the mortality list for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1937.

The general health of the patients has been above the average when compared in the average in the general practice of medicine.  There has been no epidemic of contagious diseases.  Mild respiratory and digestive disturbances are the basis of the major portion of complaints.  Surgery has occupied a very minor part of the work, consisting mostly of lacerations which are common among patients of this classification.  The mortality list show the terminal causes of death which most instances are the result of degenerative nature.   From the nervous and mental aspect, the treatment has been largely hygienic, occupational therapy, cheerful surroundings, fresh air and sun light.
