Physician’s Report – Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 1938

 To the Honorable Board of Trustees of the Waupaca County Asylum for the Chronic Insane

 Gentlemen:

 We herewith submit the report of the Medical Department and the Mortality list for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1938.

 The general health of the patients during the past twelve months has been somewhat above average.  Absence of epidemic and contagious diseases being noted through the past year.  The majority of complaints were due to respiratory and digestive conditions of a mild degree.

 Therapy along the nervous and mental aspects has consisted of hygienic measures, adequate diet, occupational therapy, cheerful surroundings, recreational, and amusement facilities.

 Sanitation in every regard as to patients, buildings, and the premises has been kept in excellent manner.

 During the past year a dispensary has been installed, equipped with modern necessities.  This addition to the institution has given the Medical Department adequate means of providing necessary treatments.

 The Superintendent and Matron have given the personal and also individual attention to the patients, this being the factor so essential in institutional management.

 The following mortality list shows the terminal causes of deaths being mainly due to senility and degenerative conditions.

 We wish to thank the members of the Honorable Board of Trustees, the Superintendent, the Matron, and the Attendants for the cooperation given to us in maintaining the medical facilities of the institution.
