Raymond A. Schmidt, 64, route 2, Waupaca, died at 8:27 Friday morning, March 30 at Riverside Community Memorial hospital. A retired laborer with International Harvester, he was born Oct. 21, 1908, in the town of Belgium, Ozaukee county, and was married there, Feb. 5, 1938, to Florence Poklasny, who survives. He resided at his present address for the last nine years. In addition to his widow, he is survived by three brothers, Alvin and Joseph, Port Washington, and Harold, Menomonee Falls; one sister, Mrs. Nick Walsh, Port Washington. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 Monday afternoon, April 2, at the Holly Funeral Home, with the rev. Michael Bablitch, pastor of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic church, officiating. Burial was in Cedar Lake cemetery, Town of Lind.

Joseph S. McLean, town of Dayton farmer, died at his home on the McLean homestead in Cedar Lake district Tuesday, age 73 years, 2 months and one day.  He was born Feb. 2, 1861 and spent his entire lifetime on the home which his parents established as one of the first family of settlers in that community. He was the son of Herbison and Mary Ann McLean. Joseph McClean never married, and is survived by his two brothers, Will on the farm and Charles in this city and one sister, Jane (Mrs. Abe Nourse) of Surport, Washington. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home here, with Rev. H. G. Misdall reading the service. Burial will be in Cedar Lake cemetery. Pall bearers are Guy Mumbrue, Frank Button, Walter Nichols, Wilbur Hobson, Chas. Button and Leon Jacklin.

Walter Nichel
Funeral services were held at Bammels Funeral home for Walter A. Nichel, 78 , Eighth St., Oct. 26. Rev. C. W. Langdon officiated. Burial was in Cedar Lake cemetery. Nichel died Oct. 21. He was married to Edna Baggs in 1907 and she survives. Other survivors include sons, Allen, town of Lind, Edson, Hortonville, and Elmer, Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. James Follett, Green Bay, and Mrs. Jesse Radley, Milwaukee; three brothers, Charles, Charles and George, Pewaukee, and Andrew of Janesville; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Art Erickson, Otto Luther, Ed Robson, Warren Schaefer, Linder Peterson and Ned Bailey.

Mrs. Jakway Died Saturday
Native of Lind ----- Lifelong Resident of Waupaca and Vicinity ---- Funeral on Wednesday
Catharine Ann McLean was born in the town of Lind, Waupaca county, Wisconsin, December 12th, 1855, and died at her home in Waupaca on Dec. 31st, 1927, being 72 years and 19 days old at the time of her death. July 4th, 1873, she was united in marriage to Ira W. Baggs and to this union was born fire children, two having died in infancy. The surviving children are Mrs. Ella McMahon of Chicago; Mrs. Ethel Miles of San Francisca and Mrs. Edna Nickel of the town of Lind. May 2, 1900, she was again married to George Jakway, and was left a widow in 1921.She has been a resident of Waupaca for the last seventeen years, the remainder of her life, having been spent in the town of Lind. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Etta McMahon of Chicago, Mrs. Edna Nickel of Lind and three grandchildren, Allen, Edson and Elmer Nickel, also three sisters. She was a very devoted mother and a kind neighbor and will be greatly missed by her daughters and many friends. The funeral was held at the Baptist church on Wednesday, Jan 4th, Rev. Woodward in charge of the services. The remains were placed at rest in the Cedar Lake cemetery.

Mrs. Etta McMahon, daughter of the late Ira and Katharine Baggs, was born in the town of Lind, Crystal Lake district, July 19, 1880, and died of a cerebral hemorrage at Chicago Feb. 4, 1946, at the age of 65 years, six months and 18 days, following an illness of four and one-half months after suffering a paralytic stroke. Surviving are two sisters, Ethel (Mrs. Miles), in California, and Edna (Mrs. Walter Nickel) who resides on the old Baggs homestead where the three sisters spent their girlhood. The funeral was held at Holly's funeral chapel Feb. 13, 1946, Rev. P. E. Lorenzen, pastor of the First Baptist church of Waupaca, officiating. Internment was in the family lot in Cedar Lake cemetery with Allen and Edson Nickel of
Manitowok (nephews of  deceased), Walter Nickel, Linder Peterson, Asher Morse and Charles McClean of Waupaca as casket bearers.

Walter J. Hobson, 68, Route 1, Pine River, died on Thursday, Nov 2 at 4:30 a.m. at his residence. An assembler with the A. E. Moore Company, Mr. Hobson was born on Jan. 2, 1910 in the Town of Lind, Waupaca Co., and was married on July 22, 1939, in Poy Sippi to Ruth Hansen who survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. June (Donald) Thoma, Redgranite, and Mrs. Laurie (Michael) Krueger, Waupaca; one son, Richard J., Waupaca; one brother, Gerald Hobson, Paradise; Mont.; four sisters, Mrs. Ina (Adrian) Jacklin, Appleton; Mrs. Geneva (John) Ryan, Phoenix, Ariz.; Miss Sarah Hobson, also of Phoenix and Mrs. Myrtle (Ralph) Brotnov, Clearwater, ID; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home, Waupaca, with Mr. Tom Holly officiating.

Burial was in Cedar Lake Cemetery, Town of Lind. Pallbearers were J. Harold Newsome, Howard Newsome, Gary Christensen, Elwin Christensen, Carl Hansen and Gordon Jacklin.
