Doris J.
Peterson
Doris J. Peterson, 91, Waupaca, sister of an Amherst woman, died
Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Lakeview Manor in Weyauwega.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Holly Funeral Home in
Waupaca, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Tews, pastor of Trinity Lutheran
Church in Waupaca, officiating. Interment will be in the Central
Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. Saturday until the
services.
Mrs. Peterson was born Feb. 13, 1915, in the town of Saxeville in
Waushara County, a daughter of the late Nels Peter and Florence (Halsey)
Nelson.
She was married to Edward J. Peterson on Feb. 7, 1943, in Kaukauna.
She was employed in the Food Service Department at the Wisconsin
Veterans Home at King for 22 years, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Gary, Brookfield; one daughter,
Carol (Joe) Wutkevicz, Appleton; two sisters, Beatrice Rose, Waupaca,
and Hazel (Jack) Madson, Amherst; four grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd, twin brother >
Morris, Maynard, and Kenneth Nelson; and one sister, Fern Nackers.

Eloise C.
Howard
Eloise C. Howard, 91, of the Stevens Point Care Center, died Tuesday,
May 16, 2006.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at The Church
of The Intercession, with the Rev. Jim Trainor officiating. Interment
will take place at the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King at 9
a.m. Wednesday, May 24.
Visitation will be at the church from 1 p.m. Tuesday until the service.
Boston Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Howard was born May 14, 1915, a daughter of the late Frank and
Valance (Alston) Cooper in Omaha, Neb. She grew up there and attended
local schools. She graduated from high school and attended many classes
at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
She was married to Clifford Kip Howard, June 6, 1936, at St. Mark's
Episcopal Church in Glen Ellyn, Ill. He died Sept. 8, 1998.
She was an active member of Stevens Point Country Club for more than 30
ears.
Survivors include one daughter, Judith (Patrick) Lyons, Stevens Point;
one son, Richard (Epie) Howard, Atlanta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; and 18
great-grandchildren.

Sigmond
A. Mesunas
Sigmond A. Mesunas, 92, a resident of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at
King, formerly of Waupaca and the father of a Stevens Point woman, died
Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic
Church in Waupaca, with the Rev. Paul Vanden Hogan officiating.
Interment will take place in Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial
Cemetery at King.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Holly Funeral Home in
Waupaca.
Mr. Mesunas was born Oct. 18, 1912, in Butte, N.D. He attended local
schools and worked on his family's farm.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-1945. During
that time, he was involved in combat operations in the Philippines, New
Guinea, Northern Solomons, Bismarck Archipelago, Luzon and Ryukyus. His
awards and decorations include the American Theater Ribbon, Victory
Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Silver and two Bronze
Battle Stars, Bronze Service Arrowhead, Philippine Liberation Ribbon
with one Bronze Battle Star, four Overseas Service Bars, one Service
Stripe and Good Conduct Medal.
He was married to his wife, Lorraine, on June 5, 1954, in Chicago, Ill.
She preceded him in death.
They moved to Waupaca in 1955 where he farmed for many years, along with
working at the Waupaca Foundry.
He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Veterans of
Foreign Wars, and Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include one son, David, Waupaca; three daughters, Cynthia
(Brian) Mandeville, Stevens Point, Janis (Leigh) Elder, La Crosse, and
Karen Notbohm, Eau Claire; 10 grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

James E.
Hultine
James E. Hultine, 72, Stevens Point, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at the
home of his daughter after a battle with cancer.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Central
Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King.
Boston Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Mr. Hultine was born Feb. 6, 1933, near Hastings, Neb., a son of the
late Arnie and Ruth Hultine.
After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force,
where he became an air traffic controller at air bases throughout the
world. He received an honorable discharge in 1956.
After service he worked as an air traffic controller in St. Louis, Mo.,
and Burbank, Calif. Later, he sold office equipment and real estate in
California and the Southwest until his retirement in 1990.
He was married to Gloria Gatewood.
He spent the last 25 years taking care of others, his parents in
Pasadena, Calif., until his mother's death in 1999, and then his uncle,
Aldin Warwick, in Santa Maria, Calif., until his death in 2004.
In the fall of 2004, he moved to Stevens Point to be close to his
daughter and grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Valerie (Daniel) Rislove, Stevens Point;
one sister, Marianne Conant; and three grandsons.

Jesse H. Tomlinson
Jesse H. Tomlinson, 76, 2840 Hickory Dr., Plover, died unexpectedly
Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at St. Michael's Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Wisconsin Veterans Home Chapel
in King, with the Rev. Glenn Bremer officiating. Burial will be at the
Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery following services.
Visitation will be at Boston Funeral Home from 4 until 7 p.m. Sunday and
at the chapel from 10 a.m. Monday until the services.
Mr. Tomlinson was born May 17, 1929, in South Bend, Ind., a son of the
late Jesse and Estella Tomlinson.
He was inducted into the U.S. Army on March 9, 1951. He served in Korea
during the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two
Bronze Stars, Army Occupation Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and a
Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 26, 1953.
He worked as an engineer for the railroad until retirement.
Survivors include two sisters, Violet Litty, Edwardsburg, Mich., and
Yvonne (Theodore) Hageness, Yuma, Ariz.; and one brother, Clare (Lucille),
Marshfield.

Helen M.
Flaig
Helen M. Flaig, 98, King, a town of Linwood native, died Monday, Nov. 4,
2005, at Wisconsin Veterans Home-Stordock Hall in King.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Wisconsin
Veterans Home Main Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Vanden Hogan officiating.
Interment will be in Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in the
town of Farmington in Waupaca County.
Visitation will be at the Main Chapel from 12:30 p.m. Friday until the
services.
The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Flaig was born June 6, 1907, in the town of Linwood in Portage
County, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Zynda) Szmkowiak.
She was married to John Flaig on Oct. 28, 1925, in Mill Creek. He died >
March 19, 1983.
Survivors include two sisters, Jean (Francis) Hoppes, California, and
Theresa Connell, Iowa; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters.

Lois A.
Griebler
Lois A. Griebler, 74, Waupaca, mother of an Amherst man and a Stevens
Point woman, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at Riverside Medical Center
in Waupaca.
A memorial service will held at 2 p.m. Friday at Holly Funeral Home in
Waupaca. Burial of cremains will be in Central Wisconsin Veterans
Memorial Cemetery in the town of Farmington in Waupaca County in spring.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Friday until the
service.
Mrs. Griebler was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Anamosa, Iowa, a daughter of
the late Leo W. and Nell (Dearborn) Brickley.
She was married to Donald Griebler on July 2, 1955, in Milwaukee. He
died Sept. 14, 1999.
Survivors include three sons, Darrel (special friend, Julie Everson),
Amherst, Royce (Rhoda), Colgate, and Keith (special friend, Tish)
Sussex; two daughters, Paula (special friend, Randall Boehme) Griebler,
Waupaca, and Martha (special friend, Rodney Clark) Griebler, Stevens
Point; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Okey.
