Thieves broke into the Beitzel Mill Monday night.  Amount of theft is not known at this writing.

Mr. and Mrs. Marlyn Oppor have moved into the house recently purchased from Mrs. Clara Wilcox which was occupied by Bert Kazen.

Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Danielson and Phillip of Elm Valley were Sunday visitors at Thomas Quinn’s.

Joseph Chromasta, oldest resident of the village observed his 87th birthday anniversary Wednesday at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. A. C. Dickson.  In spit of his advanced years, Mr. Chromasta was in good health.  He was born March 24, 1850 in Milwaukee and came to the village six years ago.

Wade Fredericksen, charged with aiding a probationer to break his parole, paid a fine of $25 plus costs yesterday.  Fredericksen, Ogdensburg tavern keeper was charged with selling liquor to Phil Erickson of this city.

Iola

Mrs. Luther Trinrud attended a mother and daughter banquet at Waupaca on Friday. 

Mrs. Nettie Gullickson spent the past week at the George Gregorson home west of this village.

Fremont

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Niemuth entertained a party of relatives on Saturday at the christening of their son Lawrence Arnold Niemuth.

Crystal Lake

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Peterson of Lind were guests Wednesday of their grandmother, Mrs. Anna Ham.

Miss Charity Holman is home with the mumps.

Mrs. Ross Holman spent Monday with her sister, Mrs. Albert Neusome.

Mrs. Florence Danielson, R.N. of Chicago, who recently returned from Los Angeles, is spending two weeks with her parents Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Danielson and other relatives.

We were shocked to hear of the sudden death of Mary Louise Ashmun of Madison.  A number here attended the funeral at Stevens Point on Saturday.

Dopps

Mrs. John Williams was called to Helvetia to care for her mother, Mrs. E. W. Stevens who is ill.

Roger’s District

Reuben Holman, Leon Dunn, and Art Wilde played checkers at the state tournament Saturday and Sunday.  Holman and Dunn won 1st and 2nd places in their class.

Ogdensburg

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hansen and Howard Peterson spent Sunday at Elmer Spiegelberg’s, Neenah.

Mrs. Ida Peterson has been the guest of her son Rev. Russell Peterson for a week.

Mrs. Gilbert Minton is caring for Mrs. Cora Peterson at Waupaca.

Four New Scarlet Fever Cases Reported at Weyauwega

Weyauwega.—The hotel at Gills Landing, known as the old Mumbrue  place and formerly operated by Peter Thill was opened Saturday for the season. It is being operated by Charles Lossie of Antigo The place has been redecorated, all rooms furnished with new beds, baths, hot and cold water. New steel boats have been added to the resort's equipment.

Mrs. Carrie Larson of Gills Landing has taken over the management of the Red Banks on the Wolf river.

Four new cases of scarlet fever developed Monday morning- Miss Estelle Jung, county nurse, called to school again Monday morning to check all cases.

Erick Smolitz is confined to his home. He is seriously ill with pneumonia.

Ogdensburg

C. A. Rasmussen, Ogdensburg, has brought a part of what has long been known as the Leonard M. Rowe farm and will make his future home on this farm it was learned this week.  Mr. Rasmussen used to live on the farm when he was a boy.  He is buying 137 acres, all that remains of the farm - 127 acres having been sold three years ago.  The farm is one of several that have been in possession of the land bank for some time.  Moving back now onto the farm, Mr. Rasmussen will take with him three husky sons who will help to rehabilitate the place.  Mr. Rasmussen plans to make considerable repairs to the building.

Mrs. Einar Espelund of Elkhart, Indiana has been spending the week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Ferden.

Announcement has been received here of the marriage Saturday, April 10 of Dagny Nilsen to Rev. Gunsten of Clairmont, Iowa.

Dopps

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Williams autoed to Helvetia.  Mrs. John Williams returned with them after having spent the week caring for her mother, Mrs. E. W. Stevens who was ill.

McFall School

Those who received special honor seals for library reading are:  Jane and Gail Ewald, Kenneth Hemmington, Clyde Johnson, Donald Erickson, Geraldine and Eleanor Huffcutt, and Clyde Johnson.

Barton School

Messrs and Mesdames Leavitt Phillips of Neillsville, Walter Phillips and Myron Schultz and family, and Raymond Erickson of Winchester spent Sunday at the Leavitt Phillips home.  Miss Mary Phillips has returned from Neenah and is visiting her parents Leavitt Phillips.

Crystal Lake

Mr. and Mrs. Levi Christensen entertained Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Stratton; Mesdames Anna Ham, W. H. Barrington, Emma Steinmates and W. L. Wilson  Friday at 1:00 dinner.  The guest of honor was her mother, Mrs. Clara Stratton.

Mrs. Anna Ham spent the latter part of the week at Sheridan with her daughter, Mrs. Arch French.

Mrs. G. S. Barrington entertained at Delta-Dek Club of Waupaca on Saturday in honor of her mother Mrs. Carrie Bradway.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Barrington, and Geraldine spent Sunday at Granite Quarry, guess of Clarence Doyle’s.

Enlo Pinkerton of City Point and Miss Anna Heuer of Wild Rose were weekend guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Pinkerton.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Nelson and daughter were Sunday guests of her mother, Mrs. Emma Steinmates.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Montgomery entertained at a card party complementary to their 25th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Henry Martin spent the weekend with her sister, Mrs. Elmer Rach near Weyauwega.

The wedding of Miss Agnetta Moller of Milwaukee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peder Moller, Waupaca and William Carroll, also of Milwaukee will take place Saturday morning April 17 at St. Mark’s Episcopal. Milwaukee.  Mrs. Moller went to Milwaukee today to spend the remainder of the week with her daughter.

Ogdensburg

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Shambeau of Manitowoc and Mr. and Mrs. Ingram Nelson of Green Bay spent the weekend with relatives and friends.  Mrs. Shambeau will spend the week with her mother, Mrs. Roy Rich.

Archie Moore of Oshkosh spent the weekend here and at Iola.

Miss Doris Boeder of Oshkosh and Wesley Hanna of Green Bay spent Sunday with the latter’s mother, Mrs. Effie Hanna.

Neal Larson and family moved from the Bowe farm to Fremont.

Wisconsin Vets Home

Mrs. Carrie Dunphy of the nurse’s staff is spending a week in Chicago with her son and his family.

Minor Rice, Lake Street, celebrated his 89th birthday anniversary Tuesday, April 20.  Mr. Rice has been confined to his home and much of the time to his bed for the past ten weeks.  He is one of the few remaining Civil War veterans of Waupaca.

Scandinavia

Mrs. J. M. Hedin and children of Pennock, Minnesota are visiting the former’s father John Zwicky.

Mrs. T. E. Bestul and daughter, Gladys of Marion and Miss Eleanor Bestul and a friend of Stevens Point spent the weekend at home.

Walter Frederickson of Wisconsin Vets Home was a visitor at F. J. Anderson’s last week.

Miss Pearl Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Anderson, City and Vaughn Van Epps, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Van Epps, Lind were married at the home of the bride Sunday, April 18, at 2:30 p.m.  Rev. G. N. Doody performed the ceremony in the presence of members of the immediate family.

Fremont

Miss Clarbell Kempf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kempf of Fremont, Rt. 23 and Leo Whalen, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Whalen of Berlin were married Thursday at the parsonage of St. John’s Lutheran Church, East Bloomfield by Rev. A. E. Schneider.  Attendants were Miss Norma Behnke and Norman Kempf.  A wedding dinner and reception were held at the home of the bride’s parents after the ceremony and in the evening a wedding dance and shower at Orihula Hall.  Mr. and Mrs. Wahlen will live in Spring Lake.

Ogdensburg

Wade Shambeau and daughter, Mrs. Charley Powell went to Minneapolis last week and returned Friday.

Ogdensburg creamery started taking whole milk Monday.
