Mrs. John
Rivrud
Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p m, at the
Northland Lutheran Church for Mrs, John Rivrud, of the Town of Harrison
(Waupaca County). The Rev. Harold Naig will officiate, and burial will be
made
in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Voie Funeral Home
at Iola. After 11 a.m. on Monday, the body may be viewed at the Northland
Church until the time for the funeral,
Mrs. Rivrud died Friday at 2:15 p.m. at the Iola Hospital. Ill
for the past three weeks, she was admitted as a patient Thursday
The former Anlaug Kittleson, she was horn in Norway on June
23,1887, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Kittleson. She came to the United
States with her parents when she was six years old. They settled in the
Town of Harrison and she lived in that area for the rest of her life. She
was married on Nov. 22, 1907, to John Rivrud and they fanned in the Town
of Harrison for more than 30 years. Mr. Rivrud died in the late 1930s.
Mrs. Rivrud is survived by three sons, Oscar of Milwaukee and
Herman and Clarence, both of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Irving (Alma)
Melum, Iola, and Mrs. Gilman (Nellie) Peterson, of the Town of Harrison
and 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by her husband, one daughter and one son.

Clarence
Rivrud
Clarence Rivrud. 57, a
former Iola resident, died Wednesday In Chicago,
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Voie
Funeral Home, Iola, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Sunday. The Rev.
Paul Routing will officiate. Burial will be in Northland Lutheran
Cemetery.
Mr. Rivrud was born July 12, 1919, in Iola. a son of Mr. and Mrs
John Rivrud. He was a veteran or World War II, serving in the Navy. He had
lived in Chicago for many years.
He married Gladys Preuss on Dec. 6,1941, and later married Etta
Lorbiecki in November 1946. Both marriages ended in divorce. Surviving are
one son, John, in Florida; two daughters. Mrs. Joseph
(Linda) Rabito, in Florida, and Mrs. Ilona Johnson, Milwaukee; one
brother. Herman, Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Gilman (Nellie) Peterson and
Mrs. Irving (Alma) Melum, Iola; and several grandchildren.

Gilman
Peterson
Gilman Peterson, 92, Iola,
a town of New Hope native and a longtime accordion player, died Saturday,
Oct. 20, 2001, at the Iola Nursing Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Northland Lutheran Church, with the
Rev. Daniel Somers officiating. Burial will be in Northland Lutheran
Cemetery.
Voie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Peterson was born May 9, 1909, in the town of New Hope, a son of the
late Gilbert and Anna (Gutho) Peterson.
He was married to Nellie Rivrud on April 4, 1942, at the Hitterdahl
parsonage. She died July 4, 2000.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in June 1942 and served as a private
first class lineman in the 95th Infantry during World War II. He received
the Combat Infantry Badge and the European-African-Middle
Eastern Theater Ribbon with three Battle Stars. He entertained troops with
his accordion, playing for about 19,000 one night.
After he was discharged from services, he was a dairy farmer, then went to
work for Modern Machine as a machinist and then to Four Wheel Drive Corp.
in Clintonville.
He had his own band called the Norsemen and continued to play the
accordion until his illness.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Wogsland, Story City, Iowa, and
Viola (Everett) Aasen, Iola; his twin sister, Agnes Toebaas, Milwaukee;
six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters.

Harold T.
Melum
Harold T. Melum, 62, Iola, a town of Alban native, died Sunday, Aug. 14,
2005, at his residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Northland Lutheran Church. Burial
will be in Northland Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Voie Funeral Home in
Iola.
Mr. Melum was born March 12, 1943, in the town of Alban, a son of the late
Irvin and Alma (Rivrud) Melum.
He was married to Patricia Moen on June 15, 1968, at the Northland
Lutheran Church.
He had been a truck driver with USF Holland.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael (Julie), Iola, and Mark
(Laura), Middleton; one daughter, Mindy (Mark) Bennett, Madison; one
brother, Roger (Marilyn) Melum, Iola; one sister, Audrey Barabas, Iola;
and seven grandchildren.

Oligney
Geraldine Oligney, 63,
Iola, a town of Alban native, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, in the town of
Harrison in Waupaca County as a result of an automobile accident.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Northland Lutheran Church, with the
Rev. Daniel Somers officiating. Burial will be in Northland Lutheran
Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola from 4 to 8 p.m.
Sunday.
Mrs. Oligney was born Oct. 28, 1942, in the town of Alban, a daughter of
the late Robert and Rebecca (Hansen) Bestul.
She was married to Terry Oligney on Nov. 11, 1961, at Northland Lutheran
Church. They later divorced.
She was married to Richard Recker on Feb. 14, 2002, in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
She was a receptionist at the Iola Clinic for many years.
She was a member of the Red Hat Vikings.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Danielle (Tom Kellnhauser)
Oligney, Iola; three sons, Darrell (Julie) and Darcy (Mary), both of Iola,
and Keith (Pattie), Lakewood, Colo.; two brothers, Harlen
(Elaine) Bestul, King, and Earl, Riverton, Wyo.; three sisters, Evangeline
Gill, Crystal (Richard) Anderson and Ruth (Paul) Jones, all of Iola; and
12 grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Phillip Bestul; and one
granddaughter.

Walter E.
Nerdahl
Walter E. Nerdahl, 94,
Iola Nursing Home, a former town of Alban resident, died Wednesday, July
26, 2000, at St. Michael's Hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Northland Lutheran Church with
the Rev. Bruce Falksen officiating. Interment will be in the parish
cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church from 12:30 p.m. Saturday until the
services.
The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with
arrangements.
Mr. Nerdahl was born Oct. 16, 1905, in Galloway, a son of the late Peter
and Carrie (Gutho) Nerdahl.
He was married to Thelma Johnson on Oct. 7, 1928, at the Hitterdahl
Lutheran Church parsonage. She died April 19, 1994.
They farmed on the family homestead on Nerdahl Road in the town of Alban
all their lives.
Survivors include two daughters, Clara Mae Knutson, Rosholt, and Phyllis
(Ronald) Olson, Iola; one son, T.W. Nerdahl, Milwaukee; seven
grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Morris and Joseph, and one
granddaughter.

Harold G. Peterson
Harold G. Peterson, 80, Iola, father of an
Amherst Junction woman, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Riverside Medical
Center in Waupaca.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Northland Lutheran
Church in the town of Harrison in Waupaca County, with the Rev. Dan Somers
officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church from 11 a.m. Friday until the service.
Voie Funeral Home in Iola assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Peterson was born Dec. 26, 1928, in the town of Harrison in Waupaca
County, a son of the late Anton and Margaret (Wrolstad) Peterson.
He married Nola Loken on March 31, 1951, at Fort Riley, Kansas.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, David (Donna), Hartford, and John,
Iola; two daughters, Linda (Michael) Anderson, Amherst Junction, and Jean
(Tony) Gliniecki, Waupaca; two brothers, Roger (Sharon) and Ralph "Mike" (Arlette),
both of Iola; one sister, Grace Jueds, Marion; 11 grandchildren; and 21
stepgrandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Harriet Ehleiter; one
brother, Neal; and an infant brother.

Harold G. Peterson addition
Harold G. Peterson, 80, Iola, the father of an Amherst Junction woman who
died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, was a
truck driver for several trucking companies. He also owned and operated an
excavating company, Northland Service.
Survivors include 21 great-grandchildren, rather than 21 stepgrandchildren
as reported earlier.
