Mrs.
Mary Anderson died Sunday evening April 4, at the home of her sister,
Mrs. P. O. Ferden, Scandinavia after an illness of two months. Funeral
services were held at the Scandinavia Church with burial at the church
cemetery, April 7, Rev. Sovde officiating. Deceased was born August 23,
1864 in Scandinavia, Wisconsin. In 1884 she was married to Andrew
Anderson who died December 10, 1932. Four children were born to this
union, three preceding her in death. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs.
Fengel Stromsland in Norway; one sister Mrs. P. O. Ferden, Scandinavia;
one grandchild in West New York, New Jersey; three grandchildren in
Norway; four nieces; and two nephews. Out-of-town people attending the
funeral were: Mrs. Iva Korell and son Lee, Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. A.
F. Prain, Villa Park, Illinois; Mrs. Otto Kretlow, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs.
George Ferden, Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Espeland, Elkhart, Indiana;
Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Myhre, Waupaca; Abel Morgan and mother, Oshkosh.
Pallbearers: R. M. Hanson, G. E. Jole, I. Gottschalk, Carl Jorgens, Carl

Edwin H. 'Eddie' Carr
Eddie Carr, 85, Amherst Junction, a
former Amherst Junction village president, died unexpectedly on Monday,
March 19, 2007, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church
in Amherst, with the Rev. Dwight Anderson, pastor, officiating. Interment
will be in the Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery in Scandinavia.
Visitation will be at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst, from 4 to
8 p.m. Friday and at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the services.
Memorials can be directed to the Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund in
memory of Eddie Carr in lieu of flowers.
Mr. Carr was born March 1, 1922, in Pittsville, a son of the late Lloyd
and Leona (Krueger) Carr. He graduated from Pittsville High School in
1940.
He entered the U.S. Army on Dec. 14, 1942, and was honorably discharged on
Dec. 3, 1945. He was in the 563rd Signal Battalion attached to the 4th
Army Division under Gen. George Patton. He was in the Battle of the Bulge,
the invasion of France 10-14 days after D-Day and was with the troops that
liberated the Buchenwald Concentration Camp. He received the European
Theater Ribbon with 1 Silver Battle Star, 4 Overseas Service Bars and the
Good Conduct Metal.
He was married to Dolores "Dolly" Trinrud on June 1, 1946, at the
Scandinavia Lutheran Church.
He worked for the Green Bay & Western Railroad as a depot agent from 1941
until his retirement in 1983.
He played baseball with the Tri City and the Scandinavia Vikings teams for
many years. He also coached the Scandinavia Vikings and the Lake Emily Inn
women's softball team. He and his wife managed the concession stand for
the Scandinavia Vikings for 18 years.
He served as president of the village of Amherst Junction for several
years and was on numerous committees for the village. He was an active
member of Peace Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Amherst
Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Tomorrow River Conservation Club.
Survivors include his wife; his three daughters, Linda (Phil) Pionkowski
and Julie (Dave) Sopa, both of Amherst Junction, and Deb (Tom) Hojnacki,
Plover; two sons, Steve (Cindy), Amherst Junction, and Brian, Scandinavia;
eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and
five great step grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Orville "Bucky;" and one
sister, Alice Carr. __________________________________

Talford Swenson
Talford Swenson, 80, Town of Amherst, died Tuesday evening at the Veterans
Administration Hospital. Madison, where he had been hospitalized the past
week. He had been ill the past six months.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church,
Amherst. The Rev. Terry Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in
Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday at the Jungers Funeral Home,
Amherst.
Mr., Swenson was born Nov. 15, 1896, in the Town of Amherst, a son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Sven Swenson. He was a farmer and lived on the family
farm all his life.
He was a member of Selma Voigt Post No. 22, American Legion, Amherst.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Herman (Gladys) Harder and Mrs. Arthur Tena)
Christenson, Amherst.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Donald Wied
Funeral services for
Donald Wied, 43, Waupaca. who died Thursday night, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Trinity
Lutheran Church at Waupaca. The Rev. A. S. Petersen will officiate and
burial will be made in Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery at Scandinavia.
Mr. Wied died Thursday at
10:35 p.m. at Riverside Hospital at Waupaca. He was a patient only a short
time, having suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. He was an employed of the
Blatz Brewing Co. at Milwaukee.
He was born in the Town
of Lind,
Waupaca County, on Sept. 19, 1913, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wied, who
now reside at Almond. On April 1, 1939, he married Viola Halvorson at Dubuque, Ia., and they had made their home since at Waupaca.
He is survived by his
parents, his wife: three children, Barbara, Sharon and Patricia, all at
home; three brothers, John. Robert and Douglas, all of Milwaukee, and five
sisters. Mrs. Charles Hammond. Mrs. Martin Gagliano and Mrs. Walter
Pavelski, all of Milwaukee. Mrs. Keith Batten, Rexford. Mont., arid Mrs.
Wallace Halvorson, Waupaca.
Friends may call at the Holly Funeral Home at Waupaca after 1:30 p.m. on
Sunday.

Donald Vaughn
Donald Vaughn, 65,
Scandinavia, father of a Rosholt man, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, in
Oranjestad, Aruba, while on a Caribbean cruise.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Scandinavia Lutheran
Church, with the Rev. Mark Sabin officiating. Burial will be in
Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Voie Funeral Home in
Iola.
Mr. Vaughn was born Nov. 22, 1935, in the town of Harrison in Waupaca
County, a son of Mildred (Erickson) Vaughn and the late Aber Vaughn.
He was married to Charlotte Chady on Sept. 14, 1963, in Scandinavia.
He operated a dairy farm in the town of Scandinavia in Waupaca County and
also worked at the Wood Model Shop in Scandinavia.
Survivors include his wife; one son, David (Renee), Rosholt; two
daughters, Vicky (Jason) Koss, Scandinavia, and Sarah (Mark) Sether, Iola;
his mother, Iola; one sister, Delores (Chester) Ernst, Waupaca; and five
grandchildren

Grace A.
Halverson
Grace A. Halverson, 89, Waupaca, a town of Lanark native, died Sunday,
March 13, 2005, at Bethany Home
in Waupaca.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca,
with the Rev. Dr. Charles L. Tews officiating. Interment will be in the
spring at Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery
in the town of Scandinavia in Waupaca County.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. Friday until the
services.
Mrs. Halverson was born Sept. 27, 1915, in the town of Lanark, a daughter
of the late Albertus and Irene (Wood) Wied.
She was married to Wallace D. Halverson on Feb. 10, 1934, in Waupaca. He
died June 17, 1981.
She worked in Food Service at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King for 23-1/2
years, retiring in 1977.
She was a member of Trinity
Lutheran Church in Waupaca.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas (Jean), White Lake, and Tom (Helen),
Waupaca; one daughter, Crystal (Michael) Budge, Appleton; three brothers,
John (Harriet) Wied, Amherst, Douglas (Shirley) Wied and Robert (Phyllis)
Wied; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Charles; one
brother, Donald Wied; and four sisters, Virginia Hammond, Gwendolyn
Batten, Beverly Gagliano and Carol Pavelski
