Compiled by Lori McCloud March 28, 1989 On the crest of a knoll at this description in a thick oak woods surrounding site, 4 trees marked with fresh orange ribbons as new oil pipeline was installed nearby in 1988 (NE of) marked to prevent destruction. It is said that Alfred Attoe, living nearby made sure that the construction company was made aware of this burial. (Alfred’s great-great Aunt). The grave is marked by a three tiered ring of fist-size stones in about 3’x5’ oval in east and west direction with cross-like design of stones at head or west end. Grave has not been recently cared for. Miss Jennie Woodward (age almost 90) says that her grandfather John Woodward and wife Sarah Jane (Moore) came to this area. (Southwest of Wild Rose, WI.) from the east either New Hampshire or Conn. This was early 1850’s. Also, Mr. Dodd and his young wife came, wife was a sister to her grandmother (Moore). Belinda died suddenly and was buried on the top of the hill near by as there were no cemeteries yet in the area, which was wooded wilderness. Dodd left the area to go back to the east as there was nothing for him to stay in the area now. For many years, once a year Jennie with other family members would come to Attoe’s farm and together travel to the gravesite and place flowers there. Stones were also placed in a ring around the burial with a large stone at the head, field stones. Now Jennie says she hasn’t been there for years. One has to walk there.
