Nelson (Laura Hetzel)
Mrs.
Laura Nelson, 76, Plainfield,
a cook for Tri-County Schools for the past 15 years, died Tuesday at 8:30
p.m. at Wild Rose Hospital. Mrs. Nelson, the former Laura Hetzel. was born
at Almond April 16.
1888, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Hetzel. She spent most of
her life in the Town of
Oasis, Waushara County, and at
Plainfield.
On
June 15. 1911, she married the late Harry B. Nelson at Almond. Survivors
include a son, Duane, Plainfield;
a daughter, Betty.
Plainfield: one grandson; seven brothers, Edward, Almond, Albert Tomahawk,
Fred and Ezra, both in California, Oscar, Port Townsend, Wash., Walter,
Duluth, Minn., and Henry, Waupaca; and one sister, Mrs. Martha Tess,
Almond. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Mrs.
Nelson was a member of the Plainfield Homemakers Club.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at
Goult-Patterson-Hardell Funeral Home.
Plainfield, with the Rev. Harold Gray of the
Plainfield Methodist
Church officiating. Burial will be
mad« in Plainfield Cemetery.
Friends may call at
the funeral home after noon Thursday.

Duane H Nelson
Duane H. Nelson, 87, of
Plainfield, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, in Marshfield.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Gasperic Funeral Home in
Plainfield. Burial will be in Plainfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from
10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until the services.
Mr. Nelson was born Oct. 2, 1916, in the town of Oasis in Waushara County,
a son of the late Harry and Laura (Hetzel) Nelson.He was married to Carmen
Runnels on April 22, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa. She preceded him in death.
He retired from Schierl Oil Co. in Stevens Point.
Survivors include one son, Gary (Linda) Nelson, Wisconsin Rapids; and
three grandchildren.

Bill Campbell Jr.,
48, Bancroft, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at St. Michael's Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bancroft Baptist Church with
the Rev. Danny Freese officiating. Internment will be in the Plainfield
Village Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Bancroft Baptist Church from 6
to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.The
Hardell-Holly Funeral Home of Almond is assisting the family with
arrangements.
Mr. Campbell was born Sept. 11, 1951, in Oceanside, Calif., a son of Earl
and Ruby (Hotchkiss) Campbell. He was engaged on Feb. 14 to marry Vicki
Mentzel, Stevens Point. He was employed as an insurance quoter with the
Dairyland Insurance Co. for about six years. He attended Bancroft Baptist
Church.
Survivors include his parents, Bancroft; two sisters, Karen (Harlan) Nigh
and Robin (Greg) Pratt, both of Bancroft; nieces and nephews.

Campbell II
Earl W. Campbell,
76, Bancroft, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hardell-Holly Funeral Home in
Almond, with Chaplain May Pat Campbell officiating. Burial will be in
Plainfield Village Cemetery following the services. Visitation will be
from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Campbell was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Auburndale, a son of the late
Earl and Anna (Stamplee) Campbell. He was married to Ruby Hotchkiss on
Aug. 3, 1946, in Nekoosa. He was a veteran of World War II and served in
the U.S. Navy for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Karen (Harlan) Nigh and Robin
(Greg) Pratt, both of Bancroft; one brother, Lyle, Adams; one sister,
Margaret Parlow, Union, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and 10
great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Earl Jr.; four brothers and one
sister.

James W. Keenlance, 71,
Plainfield,
father of Bancroft area residents, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003,
at St. Michael's Hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in
Plainfield,
with the Rev. Lois Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Plainfield
Village Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home until the services.
Mr. Keenlance was
born April 13, 1932, in Plainfield, a son of the late Charles and Ann
Keenlance. He was employed at R&L Farms in Plainfield for many years until
his retirement.
Survivors include his companion, Carol Luedtke, Plainfield; seven
children, Mark, Wisconsin Rapids, Ron and Jean Keenlance, both of
Bancroft, Gary (Julia) and Jim (Laura), both of Hancock, Timmy (Tara),
Bartonville, Ill., and Loren Truxton, Hancock; nine grandchildren; and
five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters.

Mark
A. Keenlance, 46, Stevens Point,
formerly of Plainfield, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at Riverview Hospital
in Wisconsin Rapids.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be in the Plainfield
Village Cemetery. Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield assisted the
family with arrangements.
Mr. Keenlance was born June 23, 1959, in Wild Rose, a son of the late
James W. and Eleanor (Jeffery) Keenlance. He graduated from Tri-County
High School. He resided at the Wautoma Care Center and River Pines Nursing
& Rehabilitation Center in Whiting for a number of years and he was
currently living at the Family Heritage Home in Wisconsin Rapids.
Survivors include four brothers, Ronald Keenlance, Bancroft, Gary (Julie)
Keenlance, Stevens Point, Jimmie Dean (Laura) Keenlance, Hancock, and
Timmie (Tara) Keenlance, Illinois; and two sisters, Jean

Burdette M.
Carlson
Burdette "Burt" M. Carlson, 84, Plover, a former Plainfield service
station and laundromat owner, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at River Pines
Center in Whiting.
Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Leikness & Stahl Funeral
Home in Plainfield, with the Rev. Richard Fite officiating. Inurnment will
follow in the Plainfield Cemetery
with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. Thursday at the
funeral home until the services.
A memorial has been
established.
Mr. Carlson was born March 19, 1919, in Rockford, Ill., a son of the late
Hjalmer and Gertrude (Peterson) Carlson. He was married to Nona Taplin on
Nov. 22, 1941, in Rockford. She died May 26, 1986. He later was married to
Mildred Pratt on June 20, 1987, in Plainfield.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He
received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He owned and operated the
Standard Service Station and Laundromat in Plainfield for many years. He
later was employed at Tri-County Schools in the technical education
department. He was a life member of Waushara Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
6007 and a member of United Methodist Church in Plainfield and the
Plainfield Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred, Plover; one son, James (Kathy)
Carlson, Florida; one daughter, Mary (Michael) Ryan, Madison; three
stepdaughters, Catherine (Richard) Jorgensen, Wisconsin Rapids, Barbara
Arndt, Plainfield, and Margaret (Thomas) Guth, Bancroft; one
granddaughter; seven step grandchildren and seven step
great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

'Eddie' Makaryk Sr.
Edward J. "Eddie" Makaryk Sr., 87, Plainfield, died unexpectedly Thursday,
May 19, 2005, at St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in
Plainfield,
with Rev. Gerry Green officiating. Burial with full military honors will
be in Plainfield Village Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home
from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday and again from 2 p.m. Sunday until the services.
Mr. Makaryk was born May 22, 1917, in Dixmore, Ill., a son of the late
Charles and Maria (Kania) Makaryk.He
served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1946. He began his military
service as a telephone operator at Fort Sheridan, Ill. He was later
transferred to Camp McCoy, Wis., Camp Hulen, Texas, and finally to the
Army Service Forces at Ruston, La. He received the Good Conduct Medal,
American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He was married to Imogene M. "Jean" Jones on May 1, 1948, at Calvary
Temple in Harvey, Ill. He and his wife resided in Glenwood, Ill., before
moving to the town of Rose in Waushara County where they farmed until
moving to Plainfield in 1991.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Edward J. (Barb) Jr., Plainfield; one
sister, Stella Willmer, Calumet City, Ill.; one half-sister, Sue (Leslie)
Soergel, South Haven, Mich.; five grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Matthew and Walter; one
sister, Frances; and one great-granddaughter.

Stevens Point, Wisconsin –1937
Burl Stainbrook
Burl
Stainbrook, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Stainbrook of Pine Grove, died
April 16, at Station hospital at Fort Sheridan,
Illinois. The young: man was born in the town of Pine Grove on August 16, 1918, the
second son of Mr. and Mrs. Stainbrook. Prior to last January 11, when he
entered a CCC camp at Three Lakes, with his brother, Glenn, he had worked
a farm for four years. His marriage to Miss Audry Scantlin was to have
taken place on April 1, but because of his illness was postponed.
Surviving are his parents, three brothers, Glenn, Arlie and Russell, and
two sisters, Betty and Darlene.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon with a prayer at the home at
1 o'clock and at the Plainfield Baptist church at 2 o'clock. The services,
which were largely attended, were conducted by Rev. W. W. Woodward,
assisted by Rev. Warren LeRoux. Rev., Mr. LeRoux sang "Lead Me Savior" and
"Gods
Tomorrow," during the services. Interment took place in the Plainfield
cemetery.
Those from away who attended the funeral included Mrs. Joe Weinbauer, Mrs.
George Grose, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gibbs, Mrs. Harry Giese, Mrs. Orabelle
Knutenson, Mrs. George Snyder. Mrs. George Atwood, Miss Edith Stainbrook,
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Stainbrook, Betty Marie and Claud Hammalink of
Wisconsin Rapids: Mr. and Mrs. E. Colligan, Miss Mary Murty, Miss Margaret
Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Stewart and son, Donald, Mrs. George Huffman and
Mrs. Earl Huffman of Wild Rose; Marvin Sherman of Three Lakes; Mr. And
Mrs. Henry Sherman of Kohler; Mr. and Mrs. Deloss Sherman of Meehan; Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Weinbauer of Port Edwards; Mrs. Alva Rothermel of
Friendship. The pallbearers were Dennis, Deloss, Marvin, Henry, Sylvester,
Raleigh Sherman, all cousins of the young man.

Mrs. Dennis
Stainbrook (Nina Bell Sherman)
A resident of
Plainfield most of her life, Mrs. Dennis Stainbrook, 60. Wisconsin Rapids,
died at Riverview hospital at Wisconsin Rapids on Sunday.
The
former Nina Bell Sherman was born Jan. 22, 1894, at Plainfield, the
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sherman. She was married during
her early womanhood to Mr. Stainbrook and the couple continued residing at
Plainfield until two years ago, when they moved to Wisconsin Rapids,
Surviving are her husband: two daughters, Mrs. Harold Gear, Hancock, and
Mrs. Harold Mau.
Plainfield;
three sons. Glen and Russell. Wisconsin Rapids, and Arleigh. Milwaukee: 17
grandchildren, and two brothers. Ora Sherman, who is at the Portage County
infirmary, and Ed Sherman, Friendship.
Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the
Plainfield Baptist church. Rev, Asa Hoskins will officiate and burial will
be made in the Plainfield cemetery. Friends may call until the time of
services at the Goult funeral home, Plainfield.

Dennis
Stainbrook
Dennis E Stainbrook, 71, Town of Saratoga (Wood County), died at St.
Michael's Hospital at
10:30 a.m. Saturday. He had been a patient there since Jan. 19.
Mr.
Stainbrook, a retired farmer, lived between Wisconsin Rapids and
Plainfield. His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of
God Church, Plainfield, with the Rev. E. Curtiss of Wisconsin Rapids
officiating. Burial will take place in the Plainfield Cemetery. Friends
may call at the Goult-Patterson-Hardell Funeral Home, Plainfield, until
the time of the services.
Born
Feb. 12, 1890,
Mr. Stainbrook was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Stainbrook.
Surviving are his
wife, Darlene; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Darlene) Gear and Miss Mary
Ann Stainbrook, Wisconsin Rapids, and Mrs. Harold (Betty) Mau, Plainfield;
six sons, Glenn, Edward, Dennis and David, Wisconsin Rapids, Arleigh,
Slinger, and Russell, Nekoosa; 26 grandchildren; a brother, Henry,
Cheyenne, Wyo., and two sisters, Mrs. Ford Fosgate, Waupaca, and Mrs.
Lester Bates, Plainfield.
Four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Mrs. Addison
(Ted) Sherman (Harriet Ariabelle Rozell)
Mrs.
Addison (Ted) Sherman, 70, a former resident of the town of Pine Grove,
died at her home near Big Flats (Adams County)
Tuesday evening.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. at the Plainfield
Baptist church, and burial will follow in the Plainfield cemetery. Rev.
Asa Hoskins will officiate at the rites. The body is at the Goult funeral
home in Plainfield.
Mrs.
Sherman had been in ill health for a number of years, following a stroke.
She was the former Harriet Airabelle Rozell, daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Nelson Rozell, and was born near Rozellville (Marathon county) on May
4, 1885.
Her
marriage to Mr. Sherman took place Oct. 27, 1901. The couple lived in Pine
Grove for many years and then resided in Tomahawk before moving to Big
Flats, Mrs. Sherman is survived by her Harry Hansen and Mrs. Albert Timm,
Plainfield, Mrs. Robert Taylor, Brookfield, Mrs. Gale Hall, Bancroft, ad
Mrs. Jane Rathermal; three sons, Henry, Bancroft, Sylvester, Woodstock,
Ill., and Rollie, Richford, and two brothers, Abner Rozell, Hancock and
Bert Rozel.

Funeral Of Mrs. Sherman
Services were held Saturday afternoon at the Plainfield Baptist church for
Mrs. Addison 'Ted' Sherman, Big Flats Adams county, a former resident of
the town of Pine Grove. Rev. Asa Hoskins conducted the services, and
burial took place in the Plainfield cemetery.
Pallbearers were
six grandsons, Glenn and Francis Rothermel, Larry and David Hansen and
Frederick and Edward Sherman "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "The Sweet
Bye and Bye" were sung during the services by Mrs. Fern Beggs and. Mrs.
Ida Beggs and accompanied by Mrs. Harvey Kramer.

Edward Sherman
Sylvester Edward Sherman, 58, Capron, Ill., formerly of Portage County, died
Tuesday at his home in Capron. He was born Feb. 3, 1914, in Town of Pine
Grove.
He
operated a salvage business in Capron until retirement in 1970. Funeral
services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Goult-Patterson-Hardell
Funeral Chapel, Plainfield.
The Rev. Edward Ketchum of Plainfield United Methodist Church will
officiate. Burial will follow in Plainfield Cemetery.
Friends may call today at the funeral chapel. Mr. Sherman married the
former Doris Bentley on Sept. 21,1939, at South Bend, Ind., and she is
among survivors.
Other survivors
include six sons, Edward, Fontana, Cecil, Bancroft, William, Toledo, Ohio,
and Frank. John and George, all of Capron; seven daughters, Mrs. Herbert
(Beverly) Renner, Janesville, Sandra, Capron, Mrs. Paul (Marjorie)
Vincent, Des Plaines, Ill., Mrs. Marshall (Sharon) Jist, Rockford, 111.,
Mrs. Dale (Yvonne) Wright, Delavan, Mrs. Donald (Diane) Winn., and Debra,
both of Des Plaines; 16 grandchildren; two brothers. Henry, Bancroft, and
Raleigh. Plainfield, and five sisters. Mrs. Ray (Nora) Pichelman and Mrs.
Clara Timm, both of Plainfield, Mrs. Harry (Edith) Hansen, Bancroft, Mrs.
Vilas (Jane) Leach, Adams, and Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Taylor. Algonquin.

Mrs. Dora E.
Sherman
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Plainfield United
Methodist Church for Mrs. Dora E. Sherman, 86, Plainfield, who died Monday
at St. Michael's Hospital here after a long illness. The Rev. Edward
Ketchum will officiate and burial will take place in the Plainfield
Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the
Goult-Gasperic Funeral Home in Plainfield.
Mrs.
Sherman was the daughter of the late Bcnager?? and Hattie Chalker. She was
born in Phillips Sept. 15, 1890, and had lived in Plainfield 60 years.
She
was married Sept. 3, 1910,
in Brantwood to John Sherman, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are three
sons, Dennis, Wautoma, Delos, Sheboygan Falls, and Laurel, Minneapolis:
three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Mirilla) Bertotto, Plainfield, Mrs. Randall
(Leta) Erickson, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Donald (Elizabeth) Nelson,
Plainfield; 22 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs.
Leta Quimby, Montebello, Calif, Two brothers, three sisters and a son
preceded her in death.
