Robinson Family Reunion
August 1895
Last Sunday the home
of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. ROBINSON, of Marion, was the scene of one of those
happy events which are rarely celebrated, that is, the holding of a family
reunion. As Mrs. ROBINSON's 45th birthday occured this week she decided
that it would be a good plan to have all of her family present Sunday to
help her celebrate it. So invitations were sent to different ones and in
response to these, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. BEAN and son and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. John BAXTER and son, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. BAXTER and two children, Mr.
and Mrs. Claud GUSTIN and child, and the Misses Georgie and Emma JONES,
and J. A. CRUMMETT arrived at their home about 10:30, where in company
with Mr. and Mrs. E. H. DaVOE and two children, Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
ROBINSON and child, Mr. and Mrs. George DUNTLEY, Miss Abbie ROBINSON, and
Messrs. Johnie JONES, Bert and Guy JORDAN made up a party of 30 present.
At 2 o'clock a
bountiful repast, got up for just such an occasion, was served by host and
hostess, and to which all did ample justice. After dinner different
instruments were brought out from their respective places and put into
use, when the next hour was spent in singing, etc. Delicious ice cream and
cake was now passed around, after which the time was spent in sociability.
Mr. and Mrs. ROBINSON were the recipients of many very pretty and useful
presents which were brought by the guests as a reminder of the pleasant
event they had come to participate in. The party broke up at 7:30 o'clock
each and everyone declaring that they had had a most enjoyable time and
wishing that Mr. and Mrs. ROBINSON might live to enjoy and celebrate a
good many more similar gatherings. ---One of Them
