From Adams County Deaths Volume 3, Page 1. Adams County Register of Deeds Office, Friendship WI
Name of Deceased: Dana Daniel Billings [index: "David Daniel Billings"] Color: White Gender: Male Age: 59 Occupation: Farmer Date of Birth: 09 September 1823 Place of Birth: Barnard Vermont Wife of Deceased: Annette Billings Father of Deceased: Daniel Billings Mother of Deceased: Annette Billings Date of Death: 15 November 1882 Place of Death: Springville Place of Burial: Olivet Burial Ground located SW SW 31.15.6 Name of Person Returning Certificate: Geo. Jenkins, MD Residence of Above Named Person: Kilbourn City Cause of Death: "No Cause of Death" Certificate Date: 06 March 1883 Certificate Recorded: 02 April 1883 The legal description given for Olivet Cemetery, above, is not in Adams County. There is a Mount Olivet Cemetery in De Pere, Brown County just south of the city of Green Bay proper, on Erie Street. It is located in the outhwest corner of Section 31, town of De Pere. It appears, from the map, to be in the southwest corner of that section. That pretty much fits your SW SW 31. The exact plot must be ".15.6" if section 31; T(township) 23 N(north) - R(range) 20 E(east). There are many old cemeteries in that very historic small area of the county, going back to the 1700's. Allouez, which is the historic French/Metis Catholic burial grounds and reburial ground for the original Catholic cemetery of the late 1700's and early 1800's; St. Norbert Abbey Cemetery, which for the Catholic Order; Greenwood Cemetery - very large public city cemetery; and Billings Farm Cemetery - small, private. Billings Farm Cemetery is on the grounds of what was the old homestead, and it is very near Mt Olivet (within a few blocks southeast). Donated by Joan Benner © 2003 |
