Town of Emery
The Town of Emery was formed from parts of the Towns
of Worcester and Hackett on January 9, 1889.
It was 72 square miles
and covered with dense forest. Several small streams wound their way through
the woods. It was bound by the Town of Worcester to the north and west;
Hackett to the south; and Oneida County to the east.
Between it's
creation in 1879 and at least through 1892 there few, if any, settlers in the
area.
