NELSON, WALTER, born in Two Rivers, Wis., January 26, 1883; son of Ole andMary (Christianson) Nelson; lives 155 N. NEMITZ, THEODORE CHARLES, born in Germantown, Wis., April 17, 1896; son ofHerman and Ida (Wendtlandt) Nemitz; lives Grafton, Wis.; entered serviceat Port Washington, Wis., September 22, 1917; member Company E, 340th Infantry,4th (Regular) Division; rank, private; trained at Camp Custer, Mich.,Camp Pike,Stanley, Tex., Fort Bliss, Okla., El Paso, Tex., Camp Traverse. NIESEN, ALFRED J., born in Town Saukville, Ozaukee County, Wis., October 21,1893; son of Chris and Mary (Lutfring) Niesen; lives Saukville, Wis.; enteredservice at Port Washington, Wis., November 19, 1917; member Company D, 340th Infantry,85th (Custer) Division; rank, private; trained at camp Custer, Mich. Honorablydischarged at Camp Custer, Mich., January 27, 1918.

Honorably discharged at Camp Sherman,Ohio, November 29, 1918.

NOESEN, JOHN, JR., born in Manistee, Mich., September 25, 1888; son of Johnand Mary (Hauswirth) Noesen; lives 309 Franklin Street, Port Washington,entered service at Port Washington, September 5, 1917; member of Company D, 340thInfantry, 85th (Custer) Division; rank, private, corporal; transferred to CompanyD, 345th Infantry, 87th (Acorn) Division; trained at Camp Custer, Mich., Camp Pike,Ark., and Camp Dix, N. J.; foreign station, Liverpool, England; La Gans, Jievres,France; served in Convoy Service, S. O. S., aiding supply companies along the Americanfront. Honorably discharged at Camp Grant, Ill., January 18, 1919.

NORMANN, OSCAR JOSEPH, born in Town Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wis.; son ofTheodore and Louisa (Spehn) Normann; lives Grafton, Wis.; entered serviceat Port Washington, Wis., March 29, 1918; member 7th “company, 104th Field Artillery,27th (New York) Division; trained at Camp Custer, Mich., Camp Stewart, Va.; foreignstation, La Salles, France; battles, St. Mihiel, Meuse, Velosnes, Brunlles, Boisdu Plat Chene, Borne de Cornanilles, Haramount Ridge, Revele, Elroye, Crepion, Hill328, Hill 319; rank, private; three citations. Honorably discharged at Camp Grant,Ill., April 5, 1919.

NOSTER, HUGO THEODORE, born in Milwaukee, Wis., July 18, 1887; son of Fredand Mary (Lippert) Noster; lives Fredonia, Wis.; entered service at PortWashington, wis., September 22, 1917; member Company G, 59th Infantry, 4th (Regular)Division; rank, private, leison runner; trained at Camp Custer, Mich., Camp Green,N. C. and Camp Mills, N. Y.; foreign station, Southampton, England; Calais, Desvres,May-En-Multien, France; battles, Marne offensive, 7/18 to 8/13; wounded at VesleRiver, 8/12, decorations, two gold service chevrons, Victory Medal, one gold woundchevron; married Miss Marcelle Cholet at Le Mons, France, May 24, 1919. Honorably discharged at Hoboken, N. J., July 17, 1919.

NOTTING, JOSEPH BERNARD, born in Port Washington, Wis., April 9, 1895; sonof Bernard and Margaret (Scheid) Notting; lived 1185 Twenty-seventh Street,Milwaukee, Wis.; entered service at Milwaukee, Wis., April 7, 1917, the day warwas declared; member Company F, 127th Infantry, 32nd (Les Terribles) Division; rank, private; trained at Camp Douglas, Wis., Camp MacArthur, Tex., and Camp Merritt,N. J.; foreign station, Brest, with 32nd Division; battles, Chateau-Thierry, Alsacesector, 6/16 to 7/23, Aisne-Marne, 7/29, 1918; went into action afternoon of July30, 1918. Killed in action at Cierges, Chateau-Thierry, Aisne-Marne offensive, July31, 1918; thought to have been first man killed in battle from Ozaukee County, Wis. Buried at Roncheres-Aisne Military Cemetery; service by Chaplain Gustav Stearns,Milwaukee, Wis.

NUTTER, LAWRENCE, born in Wausau, Wis., July 28, 1899; son of George B. andJane Nutter, mother now Mrs. Ingersoll; lives Port Washington; entered serviceat Port Washington, May 28, 1917; member Supply Company, 127th Infantry, 32nd (LesTerribles) Division; rank, wagoner; transfereed to Company B, 127th Infantry, 32nd(Les Terribles) Division; trained at Camp Douglas and Camp Mac Arthur, Waco, Texas; foreign station, Prouthay, Tenth French Training area, France; battles, Alsace,5/18 to 7/21, 1918; Aisne-Marne, 7/29 to 8/7, 1918; Oise-Aisne, 8/26 to 9/6, 1918; Meuse-Argonne 9/26 to 11/11, 1918. Army of Occupation, 11/11,1918 to 4/8, 1919. Honorably discharged at Camp Grant, Ill., May 17, 1919.
