My name is Jeannette Harper. I am the County Coordinator and Webmaster for
the Douglas County GenWeb website. Hopefully, I can help those researching
Douglas County WI roots!
At any time, if you can't find something, discover a broken link and
have a suggestion about what you would like to see on this site, please
click the Webmaster link found everywhere in this site.

This website is in no way connected with the 'official' State
of Wisconsin nor the County
of Douglas.

Did you know: A law enacted February 8, 1854, separated Douglas County
from the larger county of La Pointe. Superior was immediately selected
as the county seat; however, it wasn't incorporated as a city until
1887. This county is named after
US Senator Stephen Douglas. Located in northwest Wisconsin, the county seat
is Superior. The first survey
was done in 1853-54 by George R. Stuntz.
