04-36Daniels, Mock, Tarrant

I have information on my Grandmother & Grandfather - James E. Daniels & Leila Cathrine (Mock,Tarrant) Daniels and I've had pretty good luck with the rest of the family - save one. Daisy Dena Daniels - the youngest, who was born approximately 1910 and died approximately 1930.

One of my cousins, on a brief trip to Superior, found information about GreenwoodCemetary:

  • James E - Block 20, Tier 3
  • Leila Catherine - Block 20, Tier 3
  • Daisy Dena - Block 20, Tier 5

I have found no record of her birth or death - anywhere! Greenwood Cemetary doesn't seem to have any information available on-line - or a way to contact them on-line.

Do you have any suggestions as to how I might find out what information they have on Daisy?Thank you.

Looking for an Evangelical / Lutheran Church to which the Lund family (Daniel J. Lund b. Jun 1863, & Bolette Nielson b. Oct 1871) of Superior, WI might have belonged. Both were Danish, but met and married presumably in Superior. They had 9 children.

Looking for a church in this time frame that I might request a lookup of parish records - or at least a church that might have inherited such records.

Appreciate any help.

I am interested in finding information on Ethan Allen, who would have been my grandmother's brother.

I have formal portraits of him, first in a tuxedo, taken by Baldwin Studios, 352 W. Second St, Superior City, Wisconsin and then in a uniform taken by The Metropokitan Studios, 706 Tower Avenue, W. Superior, Wisconsin.

He was born in Minnesota in 1866. These pictures would appear to be taken at the turn of the 20th century. Do you have any information on this gentleman, Ethan Allen, in Superior? Thanks so much.

04-17Beck, Haapala, Huhtala, Isto, Kataisto

I am trying to locate marriage records for my grandparents Hanna & Isaac Isto or Kataisto. I do not know when or where they were married but I know that they were divorced in December of 1924 in Superior, Wisconsin. My grandmother was married three times, Isaac was her second husband, before that your last name would have been Huhtala and her maiden name was Haapala. She started divorce proceedings in October of 1924. She lived at 3920 East 3rd Street in Allouze.

I'm wondering if she would have had to post some kind of notice in the paper that might have a clue as to when and where they were married. I am also looking for her naturalization papers. I have a picture of her naturalization class. It looks like it was in the late 30's or early 40's. It was taken in what looks like a gymnasium. And they announce graduation of citizenship classes in the paper? Her last name may have been Beck by then.

04-12Brotherton, Chapados, Lemarquand

My paternal ancestors came to Carlton County, Minnesota from Paspebiac, Quebec sometime between 1881 - 1883, then moved to Duluth. Eventually, my great-grandparents moved to Superior, Wisconsin in Douglas County by 1901 (living on W. 4th, and then @ 5th Sts.) I'm looking for ANY information about them, and especially their children (7 were born between 1881 and 1900 - only three grew to adulthood).

Parents' names: John Adam Brotherton, Jr., and his wife, Mary Jane or Jane Lemarquand. Childrens' names: Howard, or John Howard, or John Joseph (called Howard) born 1881 in Pasbepiac; daughter Annie, born 1884 in Cloquet, MN, died between 1885 and 1901?; Mary or May, born July, 1887, and Charles Frederick, born July 31, 1889, both in Cloquet.

Census information from 1920 indicates that both sons were living in Superior, one working at a flour mill, the other at the ore docks. Father John Adam (died May, 1914) and youngest son Charles Frederick (died Novembe 6, 1943) are buried at St. Francis Cemetery, E. Superior, WI. (Do not know burial site for Charles Frederick). Charles Frederick married (Anne Chapados) and was living in Superior on 4th St. at the time of his son's birth, Joseph Milton Brotherton, March 30, 1927. It is possible that the sister, Mary (May?) was living in Spokane, Washington in 1943 at the time of her brother's death. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!

I have been unable to find a death record for John DEMUTH who sometimes went by (Jack). John and Sophia were married in 1943 he was a Navy WW2 veteran. A death record for John or an Obit for John or Sophia surely needed.

Updated information: 5/9/04
John and Sophia DEMUTH are buried in the Wascott Cemetery. I have written to two funeral homes. Proko Funeral Home in Kenosha WI where Sophia was arranged and a Fischer Funeral Home in Douglas Go. Proko answered and said her body was removed to Douglas Co. No answer from the Fischer home. Could someone please check for an Obit for either Sophia or John Demuth owners of the Red Lakes Resort in Minong WI. Vital records in Douglas did not have a record for them.
